How are things done around here?

I'm coming from another guild and am trying to get a feeling for how things work around here so I have a few questions:

* I guess my first question is on recruiting. I just signed onto the forums and posted some info about myself and was told I would get an invite. Is that the entire recruiting process? I'm not complaining (at all) but I don't want to make incorrect assumptions! :) My old guild had a complex recruiting process that could take up to 2 weeks so I'm just not sure where I stand yet. :)

* If I want to run a quest on a certain night, how do I get others to join? What I would normally do is write a post on the forum saying something like "Want to run Thunderhead Keep on Wednesday, who wants to join?" and people would reply if they were interested and we'd arrange a time. I haven't seen that here so I'm not sure how it works here.

* How does the TeamSpeak setup work? I've used Ventrillo before but I am happy to download and install TeamSpeak. I'm just not sure how to get setup so I can use TeamSpeak with this guild. Do I need to email someone, fill out a form, etc? Just let me know.

Sorry for such a long post. I'm still a bit dazed and confused! ;)

Thanks,
Absolution

Well I know that things are starting to move and get organized as we type. WildBill just took leadership of the guild this past month. And the officers were given a thorough changing. I was just recently promoted as well.

So let me help with the answers I have and I am sure Pastori (WildBill) or Bek (Mr.Slice) will have the rest.

http://www.cgalliance.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9475 has info on how to join and step by step setup for the Teamspeak server. Once you are in TS, a moderator will come along and make you registered, when one is on.

The recruiting process is not lengthy as you see in the listed post. It just requires that you agree with ToJ's statements and give a testimony. Pastori will know if this will be changed at all in upcoming days.

Recruiting is done mostly from within the Christian alliance forums and friends. We do not have active recruiters that I know of. Personally, I think it is a great idea, I took the effort to search for a Christian guild when I started playing. But I am sure not many others will. There could be many Christians looking for fellowship. If you have ideas or are interested in recruiting, send a PM to our leader.

As far as quests go, we are casual, post a date and request and see who signs up. Feel free to ask in Guild chat for help any time. There is no formal process at the moment. If one is arranged, it will be a sticky on the top of the forum.

Ok, I hope that helps a bit. Be patient and I am sure you will get all your questions answered. The current Leadership has a strong commitment to the forums, so they will all see this post shortly.

Thanks! I'm not impatient. I hope that my post didn't sound like I was. I'm just trying to get a feel for how things are done here so I don't mess up! :) I'll check out the post you referred to so I can get that process started. Thanks again!

Nah you didnt sound that way, I just wanted to reassure you that you will be taken care of here. We are excited to have you on board!

I probably do the majority of recruiting for the guild. A couple of times per month I go around the major GW forums and post a message with some info about SoE and ToJ. It's produced many harsh words and a few great new friends. Other than that we just get new members from within ToJ or when someone searches for "Christian Guild Wars guild" and finds us.

You can arrange questing and missions that way if you like. We do have several time zones covered among the membership and all levels of characters. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding some buddies to quest with. :)

I think Syd already answered this. There is a post stickied at the top of our forums explaining the process. You can register yourself by clicking on the "Self" tab and then choosing "Register with server." Then logoff and log back on and you will be registered.

Thanks. I've started the recruitment process with an email to the email address in the sticky post. I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. Do you guys know if I'm supposed to post my personal testimony here or if I'm supposed to email it to someone? Either is fine by me.

Basically, if you'd like to post your testimony here, I'd love to hear it. But, it's not necessary for your membership. You just have to answer affirmatively to three questions and send an e-mail to gwarstojstaff (at) hotmail (dot) com.

1. Are you a Christian?
2. Do you play Guild Wars?
3. Do you agree to the ToJ and SoE charters?

If so, you're in. We aren't very complicated. :D

Glad to have you with us.

I believe the testimony reference is in regards to Tribe of Judah. You actually are required to join ToJ before you can join SoE... technically. When you do join ToJ, your personal testimony is a part of your application.

TS problems

Everyone might want to know that at least me and Vibro have been getting errors when trying to connect to the Teamspeak server recently. So apparantly, there isn't a TS server up at the moment...

I wonder why it seems to be offline....

If it wasn't for you doing that, Slice, neither I nor Halonic would even know about SoE. Although it produces some negative responses from the unsaved, it does bring a few Christians 'home'.

I'm getting the same thing. The server is down. I don't know who administers it but it has been down a couple of times since I've been in the guild. You guys could use my TS server as a backup if you want. Let me know if you do and I'll post the info.

eventually i'll be able to setup a linux CS and TS box, but that could take another month or so

Is there something we can use in the mean time? I hate trying to type and fight at the same time. I'm still in the process of getting my membership setup for ToJ so I can get membership for SoE going.

Is it ok to share that address/pwd with other SoE members when we are playing online? I just hate trying to type while fighting! :)

Not a lot of people in SoE use TS regularly. We usually only hop on it when there is a large group questing together or for PvP/GvG. I'm sure ToJ's TS server issues won't last forever. Astro's TS is a great back-up, though. Just keep in mind that you may be taklking to yourself if you plan on being on TS the entire time you play. ;)

Sure, anyone in SoE is welcome to use it.

I was thinking of using it when we get a group together for a mission. From past experience, groups w/o TS or Vent really don't have much if any strategy. It's just a bunch of individuals running around following the fastest person (usually the tank and often someone who has no idea how to actually run the mission). If you have TS running, you can plan strategy and make changes on the fly w/o having to yell "stop" and have everyone wait while you type. I've been in a few of those missions and it's like watching the Keystone Cops. :)

By the way, I just logged on and got the invite. I really like the cape design! Good job to whoever was in on the design!

Leet (or l337) has been around for months.

lol j/k although it has been around for awhile.

what I said was teh roxors, which is another way of me saying, it rox. :)

Basically leet is numbers and symbols instead of letters.
