Hi everyone (that visit the forums at least)
Yesterday there were several of us that fished our hearts out to try and level towards the guild achievement [That's A Lot Of Bait] for the reward recipe Seafood Magnifique Feast. After many hours of toiling (and much fishing, I personally went from fishing lvl 226 to 319 w/ over 500 fish caught - Reets was fishing for hours as well) we are finally at the halfway point of 5,000 of 10,000 caught.
I know most people reading this don't care about fishing...at all...but this is a simple and fairly easy way that you can contribute to the guild and this achievement. I would love to see 50 people step forward and commit to catching 100 fish.
A couple of things to note - you must catch fish from within a pool. What is a pool you might ask? It is a faintly visible circle that illuminates the surface of the water. If you mouse over it, the type of fish swimming in the pool will show. Make sure you cast your bobber into the circle or else anything you catch will not count towards the guild achievement. This may be one of the most annoying parts; making sure the lure is inside the circle; but stick with it!
I also highly recommend getting [Fish Don't Leave Footprints]. This allows you to track fish on your mini map just like nodes for mining or herbing. The best place I researched was Coilfang Reservoir in Zangarmarsh, but then I fished the coast between Stranglethorn Vale and the Blasted Lands and there are plenty of floating wreckage nodes to fish from. You need to fish up trunks that have a Weather Beaten Journal inside. You also need to be 100 in fishing before you can learn the skill but you will be skilling up as you look for the manual if you aren't high enough level yet. And, yes, fishing in the wreckage pools also levels for the achievement.
So, happy fishing and keep your stick on the ice!
*additional option is to hold our own fishing derby where the first person to bring 100 freshly caught fish gets 300 gold from me. I actually earned 340g yesterday just from selling the fish I caught; and that doesn't include the ones I was catching and putting in the guild bank for the recipe we are trying to earn.
