Friday night in alliance chat someone claimed they weren't a geek, so we pointed out to them that they were playing Guild Wars on a Friday night. Their claims that there just wasn't anything they would rather do only served to support our position, not refute it as they intended. (Those of us doing PvP did admit that we must have it worse.)

But the Geek of the Week award goes to our fearless leader. :) Derk was logged in to TeamSpeak remotely from a hotel LISTENING to us do PvP. He couldn't even play, because his laptop won't run GW very well. (Never mind his reason for traveling, which was even geekier...)

Yep, you're a geek, Derk. But that's why we like you! :D
 
That's dedication there. My laptop don't run GW well either, but it's my only access to it. Oh well. So is his award a paper certificate, medal, or little statue?
 
It was some sort of math competition for his older son. :)

And as part of his reward, he was the first recipient of the Spirit of Elijah/Spirit of Elisha Geek Award flair on Facebook...
 
Does he get a root beer keg? I think he should get a root beer keg. Or at least, I should, because I wouldn't just set it in the corner, I'd actually drink it. Maybe a maple syrup keg...
 
If I had a nickel for every time I have to listen to ppl playin' while I do HW... Well, lets say I'd have glowing hands on my ele...

I'd like to thank my son for participating in Mathematics Pentathalon, my wife for putting up with my gaming obsession and introducing me to Facebook where I will be able to enjoy this award, and finally, God for blessing me with the resources to participate and for bringing me to this organization.
 
Go Derk! Sheesh I need to log into Guild Wars to feel geeky again. Well I may miss PvP to go see Ironman which again confirms my geekyness to confirm it more it will be my second time seeing it lol. Yes I know it comes out tomorrow (Friday) but I got lucky and saw it at 8pm Thursday :P. Yeah I know I am lucky.
 
Sorry Dredd, thousands of people will be going to see Ironman. That makes it trendy, not geeky.


To truly maintain your geek status, you WILL log onto Guild Wars tonight.

STC is our next recipient of the Geek Award.

He went to his pastor's house for dinner, then logged on to Facebook. But he wasn't content to stop there! No, STC proceeded to download xfire AND TeamSpeak on his pastor's laptop. Then, he logged in to both of them and LISTENED to PvP.

is the award only given for recent geek acts? Because i have a really geeky one i did a while back. lemme know if all acts of geekiness apply.

Well, yeah. Of course we are.

And the award cannot be sought. :) It is awarded if I notice outbursts of spontaneous geekery. If it's staged, it doesn't count! (Unlike America's Funniest Home Videos and YouTube...)
