Ok question. It's asking me to create an account and I want to know if which way the "username" it's asking you for is...

1. It is publicly viewable i.e. the name everyone sees in games.

or

2. It's a hidden username for login purposes only and it displays your steam profile name to the public.

I've joined things/web sites thinking one when it's the other and used the wrong name before, irritating XD.
