James 1:2-4 said:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
I honestly don't see this scripture saying anything about "count the comfortable things as joy" nor does it say "count the easy things as joy". It don't even allow us to consider anything at all as excluded from our counting as joy. Yet each and every one of us find ourselves focused on the negative, the depressing or the bad parts of whatever it is we're going through.
If we honestly trust God's Plans are to our benefit, truly believe Jesus when He said He has overcome the world and if we are totally under the control of The Holy Spirit, then we can truly look at any and ALL situations and find some form of joy within it. My favorite way is to proclaim the situation, no matter what, as fully and totally giving God the Glory. This almost always seems to place a smile in my heart which transfers to my face.
If it don't, and trust me I am human, I'll go ahead and feel the sadness for just a moment then start to laugh! Somehow I am allowed a chance to relax and my faith has a better chance to take hold. Patience begins to gain form and control and it's at that moment the actual joy of the situation shines forth.
Let's all maintain our joy within the Grace of God, for His Glory and for easier edification of each other.
