Genesis 26:19-22 (KJV)

"And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.

And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.

And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land."

Everyone here has probably had the unpleasant experience of working for something just to have someone else take it away from them for their own profit, and Isaac was no different. Something that was different in his case, though, was how he handled the matter. Rather than continuing to fight or be resentful about the situation or become demoralized and give up, he chose to keep pressing onward digging his wells in faith that God was with him and would be there for him when he got to the place He wanted him to be and that trusting the Lord would in the end be more profitable than defending the work of his own hands.
