Matthew 1:21 (KJV)
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for He shall save his people from their sins."
We know Jesus is our savior and that's why we are gathered here in His name, but I think sometimes people can get into thinking of Him in terms of just saving us from hell in the next life and don't get into a habit of trusting Him or calling on Him to help us in this one.
This passage shows us that He came, not just to save us from hell in the future, but from our own sins right here and now. He has broken the yoke of sin off our backs and no one can put it back on us again, "because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." (1 John 4:4)
God definitely knows how to give the best gifts of all!!!
