Romans 12:4-5 said:For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Ever watch a baker fix a watch? Did you ever see a doctor on the line as a cook? How about a librarian with a jackhammer?
No these things don't seem to be real, yet I myself have watched these events take place in my past. The baker actually had a deep interest in timepieces and could do more than replace a broken crystal. It was his hobby and he fixed almost every watch someone brought him for free. The doctor I mentioned had a routine where every week he'd go down to the mission and actually get sweaty and dirty sometimes making sure hundreds of homeless got fed, and fed well. The librarian actually had a strange physical fitness program where she'd bust up rocks and driveways just for the exorcise.
My point is that there may be many of us in the world, each seems quite different than the next, but in the long run we all depend on each other one way or another. If my baker friend never shared his talent for fixing watches then several people, including the pastor, would most likely be late since they couldn't afford a professional repair at a local shop. If the doctor never cooked for those homeless they would still be fed, sure, but might not be as nutritious. That lady with the jackhammer also had several chances to aid people in the church by donating her time to bust a driveway up and even half of a foundation which needed to be replaced.
This point of view can hold true to pretty much any topic, idea or skill you can think of. And, as always, God's Glory shines through when these things are done "as unto The Lord." The Church, that is we as the Bride of Christ, each have a place within God's Kingdom. We may not all be literally the same, but in the Eyes of Jesus we should all appear as one.
Lord, please help us all obtain the understanding of our roles you have planned for us. Bring us closer to understanding what we are made for, closer to understanding each other but more importantly closer to understanding You. In Jesus Name, amen.
