This is not a scam.

To tell you the truth, I was certainly cynical about this when I first heard about it. Must be an evil pyramid scheme that is impossible to complete and there's almost no chance that little old me can get a free iPod, I thought. However, I went to search on the web for further information about this whole Free iPods.com deal, to see if it was in fact legit.

After checking out many sites (of which are linked below for further reference), and saw all the pictures of "proof" that people can in fact receive iPods from this site, I decided there's nothing to lose other than a few minutes to sign up for a few things.
I have come to the same conclusion.

Basically the way this works is by you signing up at the website, completing one of the Sponsor Offers, which require a credit card, and getting five friends to do the same thing in your name.
I have signed up, I used a credit card to complete the offer, I have had no spam from them, and nothing has happened to my credit card. It is legitimate.
Please post with questions. But please, no "THIS IS A SCAM!!!". It isn't.

Ripoff, no. Pyramid scheme, yes.

And just because they haven't messed with your credit card yet, doesn't mean they won't sell that number to criminals/ad agencies/spammers, or abuse the credit card in the future.

Gimme a break

AOL would not risk the publicity of a lawsuit.

Aside from that, you guys aren't being very helpful. "gimme a break"? -_-;;

It does work. People have put up websites showed the packages.
The way it works is that the people running the promotion get about $50 for each referral. So, they lose a little money when you actually manage to get an iPod. However, most people won't, and they will collect the $50 per person. That's a hefty profit, when the word gets around.

Oh, and if I was African American, I think I would hunt you down and do something nasty and highly African, say spearing you and wearing your skin. However, I'm Russo-American. So I'll just blow you up. Watch your mail for a large package. :P
Maybe I'm kidding. Maybe. I don't like racy jokes.

Racy != racist, senor.

btw - giving unknown people who run something shady like that your credit card number is a wonderfully responsible thing to do. If I ever am in need of someone to co-sign a loan for a house, could you?

Guys,

Don't be so rabid.  yeesh.  We are supposed to be a Christian group, which means we are supposed to act like a Christian group.  Posting your not interested is one thing.  Acting like a bufoon is another.
