Favorite/most-played downloadable games?

I had a $5 Reward Zone certificate to spend at Best Buy, so I picked up a $10 PSN card (after about 20 wasted minutes -_-).

Side note: Much <3 to Ember for finding the $10 card hiding behind the $20 card.

So now I have a $10 card to spend on a downloadable game. I was thinking Critter Crunch or Pixeljunk Eden (played the demo for PE last night and liked it way more than I thought I would), but I wanted to ask you guys what you play most often.

I intend to pick up Castle Crashers if/when it goes on sale for $10, but not before then.

I'm going to wait until I have a few more PSN titles before I pick up Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The game is awesome, but lack of online co-op drops it a few notches.

Other than that, I'm open to suggestions.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It's $15, I think, but... I mean... it's Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I can give a promotion of this game if you want it, but I think the name pretty much sells the game by itself. /fanboy

Mega Man 9 & Mega Man 10. Single player only, but pretty much a must own for us old school types. I've played Mega Man 9 pretty exclusively the last week or so. Still haven't quite beaten it due to difficulty (and I'm one of those guys that instinctively sets modern games to harder difficulties and still complains that they're easy), but I'll be going back for more even after completing it. I say both MM9&MM10 because you can buy the bundle for $15. Conversely, you can buy the games individually for $10/each, but if you like one, you'll almost certainly like both; may as well buy them together and save five bucks.

Those are the PSN games I'm loving right now, anyway. Demos available for all of them.

Also, I appreciate the fact that you post shoutouts to your wife. It makes me chuckle and smile.

PSN+ = stream of new games to play. ($18 for three months... probably gonna do it. Then buy the full fifteen months [12+3bonus] for $50 once I have more money to spend.)

Including the pretty sweet Zen Pinball right now.

And Syphon Filter 3.

And some other PSN titles.

And Assassin's Creed Brotherhood multiplayer beta.

I have a Dreamcast, so MvC2 on PSN doesn't hold as much appeal as it would otherwise.

Mega Man 9 was a day 1 purchase on WiiWare for me. I beat the game 4 days after release, reassuring myself that my game-fu had not gotten weak in my old age.

:D

Super Stardust HD is good.
Agreed, but it's not at the top of my list. Still, a good game.

Or you can even buy some PS1 games. ;)
I own a PS1. -_- And a PS2, for that matter.

Zen Pinball, eh? I've heard good things, so I'll add it to my (ever-growing) list of demos to check out.

Right. Managed to forget that you're awesome like that. :P

Mine has taken a hit, but I'm getting it back. Took down five Robot Masters (each for the first time) in a single sitting the other day. That felt good (after countless sessions of banging my head against a wall because I just couldn't make a jump, etc.).

Also, the Endless Attack mode is pretty sweet. 'Twas worth acquiring.

For what it's worth, you can also buy a Street Fighter table. My fanboyism influences me greatly.

But the game is legitimately one of the better virtual pinball games I've played.

I think you will like Pixeljunk Monsters. It's tower defense, and co-op. But doesn't matter what I think, get the demo and decide for yourself!

(I have sold 3 PS3s for Sony due to friends/family playing PJM)

I like PixelJunk Monsters, but I'm not a fan of tower defense games. :( Still, I played and enjoyed the demo. Just not "pay cash money for the full version"-level enjoyed.

That's a pretty impressive claim. Haven't tried the game yet (simply forgotten it). Gonna have to change that.

Bear in mind that my family doesn't consist of hardcore gamers. The main draw of PJM is to move past gates, you need to get a certain # of "rainbows" (perfect clears), and in many case this requires very careful planning. It leads to that OOOOOOOH SHOOOT SOOOOO CLOOOOSE type of gameplay that will have you planning on playing a level for a bit with a friend, then looking up and noticing it's 4:00 in da mo'nin'.
