I am debating on switching from Firefox to Chrome as my primary browser and was wondering what you all used and why. I noticed that Firefox uses at about 100+K of memory while Chrome adds up to only about 57K. Safari is around 60K, but it feels like Apple too much for my taste. I don't know about Opera and I don't know if I can get over the IE memories. But what do you guys like? What seems to run fastest or has the best features for your preferences? Why do you use what you use?

57k for chrome?!? wow I wish. I ran the stats page (about:memory ) in chrome and got:

Private Shared Total
956,604k 14,597k 971,201k

It still runs great even tho it is using a gig of ram.

Was using Firefox, but ran into issues with Avast and xp, later Vista. Switched to Chrome and everything is running Tickety Boo. Getting used to Chrome was a little bit of a problem, I'm wasn't use to the clean way it operates and is set up. I still use IE for a few things since it added tabs, but not many.

I wouldn't ever touch IE... ever never ever.

I use Chrome as my primary browser and Firefox 4 for my alternate when things don't like Chrome.

The one thing I like about Firefox is the addons... no ads in youtube is pretty amazing.

The one thing I don't like about Firefox is the addons... the setup of some of them can be extremely confusing.

Only crazy people use Opera, just sayin'!

I use Firefox because my computer is beast enough that memory isn't an issue.

That and I <3 the lack of ads on youtube.

I use IE and only IE (v9)... because I don't have any issues with an website... like I do with Firefox and Chrome.

Why's that funny? People tell me this all the time... what issues are there, that a smart internet users can't avoid...

Don't give me the whole virus thing, because Firefox was the most tartgeted browser for virus writers the last I looked.

IE is slow
To me IE represents all that is wrong with a browser. It's slow and bloated. It crashes on websites .. goes into "unresponsive" mode.

IE isn't compatible (even with itself)
As a developer, IE is the worst browser in the world to deal with in terms of W3C compatibility with standards and quirks. Visit any major website and a quick view source will find some code snippets to get IE to "work". So there is a ton of personal frustration from that viewpoint. Have you heard of "compatibility" mode? IE doesn't even stay compatible between it's own versions! You can quirk a website to work with IE7 and it will break in IE8 and 9. IE is a developer's nightmare.

IE is insecure (well anything non-Chrome)
Sandbox security makes Chrome the candidate of choice for browsing. You may think IE is secure, but unfortunately many attack vectors utilize plugins such as Flash, Acrobat, and Javascript to invade your computer. Chrome sandboxs the windows in their own process which can't touch the OS. It's virtually impossible to hack. IE 9 actually does this now too which makes it very secure, but if I had to bet a horse on security....
