This Wednesday the dealership where I work is going to eliminate one of the main positions I cover - the cashier. They're gonna make the service advisors do it.

No one thinks it will work except the new boss who has been there for almost 2 months now (other bosses have tried it before and it failed).

I do not know if I will have a job on Friday when I go in to work. No one has even spoken to me about it yet either... I don't know if that's good or bad.

I really don't feel like having to look for a new job right now...

Update:

The position thing never happened.

Thats a good and bad thing.

The Good - I still have a job. Though everyone is very doubtful they would actually get rid of me because I am so inexpensive for them (only work 2 days a week and I am still making introductory wage - thats a soar spot b/c I've been there for 5.5 years now...).

The Bad - The other lady who also "does" the job is still around. Shes a terrible worker and brings everyone's morale down... she makes up work to do so she can avoid the work shes supposed to actually do. She bamboozles the managers and they actually believe her too... it is very frustrating. People like her made me want to get into the schooling program I am currently in... lol. It is not that I want her to get fired, I just want her to have to work just as hard as everyone else does, though IMO, she does not deserve to be employed.

So, I still have a job and nothing has really changed.

sounds about like how i feel about my boss, lol. while i would hate to see him without work, i just want him gone from my store, he is bringing us down. after 8 years of my particular store being one of the top rated in the company, since he has started we have dropped to about average

Bit of an update.

They officially eliminated the cashier position on Feb. 1st and moved the receptionist to the new car show room.

I still have a job... it is filing all of that lady's files she never did. I am thankful for having a job in this economy (am I the only person who gets tired of hearing that?) but I want to burn the dealership down every time I go into work on Saturday now. I suppose <cringes> that it is a good thing because I only file on Saturdays and slacker-lady left me with enough work to keep me busy for quite some time (I don't want to work myself out of a job).

No one is expecting this to work for very long. Most of the advisors think its a mess because in addition to having to write customers up, they also have to check on cars in the back shop (which means being away from their desks at times) and calling customers with updates (which means being busy and not being able to do anything else). They really don't have time to cashier. The managers swear this is more efficient than having one person dedicated to cashiering... I am biting my tongue so hard, trying not to challenge them on that... it is so hard, haha.

Anyway. We will see how long it lasts.
