D&D question

About people who play Dungeons & Dragons, I heard
about suicides to do with D&D.

The question is:

By people playing Occultic games and Computer games,
doe's the devil or satan try to drive people to suicide
through circumstances and deeper issues in their lives?

I think the kind of people that generally play D&D are just more depressed, and thus more prone to suicidal thought. Doesn't mean that D&D or the devil has anything to do with it. Correlation does not equate to causation.

This is the biggest crock of conceive D&D does not make anyone commit suicide anymore than the counter strike Video game.

I played D&D for years and never did it cause me to be suicidal. Can the devil use things to influence you yes. But we give him to much credit. Man does enough damage without his help the way it is.

The devil didn’t create it, he pro9ably uses it as a tool like anything else. I personal do not play anymore, I felt convicted to not to. But It never caused anyone to kill themselves. And if they blamed it (And I know only of a handful of cases) from what I remember from static’s in collage the we mental disturbed individuals.

I am sure it we took the entire fan base of D&D folks against any other organization the D&D folks are probably less suicidal, beside you have to have those campaigns ready by Friday night.

So can the devil use D&D sure , can he use a prideful conviction in the Lord OH yes, that’s why we are told to wait on the Lord to study the scriptures, to model the Life of Jesus Christ. To keep demonic and the Devils influences at bay and walk a holy and righteous like.

Like the old saying

Garbage in, garbage out.

What is a stumbling block for me , may not be for you. Just something to keep in mind.

Matthew 15
10Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. 11What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' "

Just something to think about when considering your recreational actives.

Yeah D&D can't lead u to suicide. Its a bunch of bs. And if u want to believe the devil can use it, well then the devil can use solitare to make u evil. Its a game play and enjoy.

And I think I win the improper sentance award.:D

Nooooo it was mine waward ,Thief!

but seroiusly, yes , the devil will use whatever he can to seperate you from GOD

If you don't believe in eiother , then you really should worry

If you do, youshould pick up Satans Bait and awesome book on how not to let offenses get a foot hold in your life.

If you pm me, I have lots of resouces and books on spiritual warfare and I am happy to share

when I see occult symbols in games it doesn't make me think of that stuff. Then again I don't have those tendancies. I just avoid those kind of games simply because I don't like to see occult stuff glorified.

No offense, but this is a tragically uneducated question.

What definition of Occult are you trying to paste onto D&D and Computer Games?

These are not "occult" games.

What research did you do before asking this question?

Did you know that studies of criminal tendencies in people who played RPG's were made and that findings showed that fewer crimes were committed by gamers than the average for each age group?

Did you also know that The American Association of Suicidology, The Center for Disease Control, and the Canadian Health & Welfare made extensive studies and that no links were found between D&D and teen suicides?

I'm sorry, but there are no plausible connections between RPG's and suicides.

Have some people commited suicide that played RPG's?  Of course.  Can they be linked though?  It's doubtful, as studies have shown.

The suicides that you are talking about were more a product of the times than anything else, taking place in the late '70's when D&D was first introduced.

I find this whole notion ludicrous because I can actually speak from experience.  I've played the actual pen and paper D&D off and on and have played RPG's on the computer as long as there have been computers to play them on.  And holy crap Batman, I'm still an upstanding member of society.

D&D is as satanic as you want it to be.  Did you know that you could have a Christian oriented D&D game?  Bet you didn't.  The game carries this taint to it that most people will just turn away without ever acknowledging it.

EDIT:

I apoligize if this post seems disjointed, but this topic truly offends me.  I am distressed by the uneducated attacks on D&D and RPG's in general.

I encourage you to read this article:  http://www.religioustolerance.org/d_a_d2.htm

It will answer all your questions and then some.

This is another good page that explains myths inherant to RPG's and D&D in general:

And once again, I should apologize for totally ignoring your question, "By people playing Occultic games and Computer games, doe's the devil or satan try to drive people to suicide
through circumstances and deeper issues in their lives?"

The simple answer is no. Games aren't going to influence someone to suicide any more than any other aspect of their life.

People always blame stuff on the devil. People thought Elvis dancing was satanic and would lead girls to lust. Rock music was considered satanic at one point. Remember Kiss.

If someone commits suicide after playing D&D they must of been messed up in the head to begin with.

I personally find it funny how people think games are going to be satanic. If we went back in time and used a calculator, they would of probobly hanged us for being a witch.

Games are there to enjoy, play and have fun. I knew guys in high school who played D&D they weren't that social (they were always playing D&D or writing some program) , but I think their still alive.
