Curse vs. WoWace...

STOP!!!!!!!!!

Before you post here, I would appropriate it if spam would stay to a minimum...

As you all know, I am Curse-Gaming addon user and supporter, however, my trust of it has fallen... I want to switch to WoWace, however, WoWace does not have QuestHelper...

The main addons I use are as follows...(You can click the links to read more about them)...

QuestHelper: Shows map locations of quest objectives, like what to kill and where to find an object...

QuestGuru: Makes the quest UI larger and creates better tracking options, and has a built in announcer... (And I cannot stand monkeyquest)...

OmniCC: Countdowns for everything...

Cartographer: WoWace addon...lol...

Outside of QuestHelper, if you can find me similar addons for these, I will switch right away... I already have WAU downloaded, and am doing my own research as well...

Edit: Also, how reliable is WAU and the addons, has anyone ever got a keylogger or trojan from them?

wow ace updater has been fantastic for me. I've never had a problem with them. I just checked, and i am running about 140 mods. Wowace does just about all of them, but there are a couple they don't have. WAU updates all the ace mods, and for the others, i have to go out and download once in a while. In reality, i run WAU once a week, and I update the rest once a quarter. >.<

So i'd make the switch for sure. BUT, there will be a couple mods you'll have to go download.

Instead of OmniCC, i'd use chronometer. As for Quest helper and Questguru, I use Lightheaded and Doublewide. Niether are wowace, so i'm not sure it would solve anything for you.
 
I'm not sure the name of it but there is definately a wowace mod that adds the numbers to your spell icons to show cooldown timers, for Quests I used questfu which was handy for tracking but I really like the look of that questguru, I also used lightheaded and double wide like Tree mentioned but they arent wowace either, mainly those and auctioneer I had to manually keep updated but 90% of my mods were wowace

Yeah if a quarter is 365days.and.counting.long

LoL before Tree was forced to update by a patch a while back he was still using the same Mod-pack I had on our work server from back when we raided MoltenCore!
 
From WoWAce you can get Cooldowncount which will replace OmniCC.
If you use FuBar you can use QuestFu or you can use MonkeyQuest which I use and I use the the Fubar option for monkeyquest which makes customizing the look of monkeyquest easier.

I'm not sure about questhelper but you can always use the curse client to check for questhelper updates.

Both pale to comparison with QuestGuru...

I am keeping QuestHelper and QuestGuru, and I am using CooldownCount and Cartographer with WAU... It is kinda annoying...but I haven't really decided on what I am going to do about my addons...
 
The biggest downfall I have found to WAU was the lack of automatic update ability. Curse notifies you when a addon has an update posted. Other than that it's strictly preference.

I don't use curse updater but if it runs a little program in the background to tell you that an update is available, I'd be a bit more then nervous. Be like me, use minimum addons :)

Exactly...that is why I stopped using it, it ran it the background, and all of a sudden it freaked out, and my wife's computer had a virus on it...that was easily removed...but it made me feel very uneasy after that...
 
For WAU I load it once a day hit F5 to get a fresh cache and update the appropriate addons. The curse client I do the same way, start it up, let it check and turn it off.

I use monkeyquest and questfu because I know where 95% of all the quests lead to as I've done most in triplicate on Al, Gnim, and Theros.

One of the reasons I was against using WAU, was about a year or so ago, I tried it out and had a lot of problems with it...it wouldn't update right, and sometimes it wouldn't install some addons I checked (still kinda have that problem, but just on my wife's PC)...and it was just such a hassle, I got rid of it and didn't look back...until now...
 
i dont see the big deal about these " updaters" anyway , i perfer just downloading the addons then unziping them so i can add them to my interface file.

I wish I had the time to do that...I have a wife, a daughter, another daughter on the way, and am looking for work all the time...when I get time to play WoW, I want to play WoW, not have to update my addons...
 
So how do you get WAU do update at the press of a button?
I saw it with the curse client(yech) but can't seem to find appropriate interface option in the WAU
