Communication Error

Was playing just fine earlier, then I disconnected shortly, then when trying to log back in, the server says "Communication error" and attempts to connect, but is unable to do so. I usually get "Connection lost - end of stream".

Edit: Also getting "Connection Lost - Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset"

If there's anything I can do, let me know. Everything was working great before though!

If it's a server problem, I'll be here waiting patiently :D

Kept trying - still not working. No one knows what to do on the Minecraft Forums either. I've tried just about everything within my control (there were some server-side suggestions). Guess I'll just wait it out...

People are experiencing protocol errors. The fix is to /register to change the way you login. Everyone joins as a guest player until they /login. Do this today please:

1) Login to the server the normal way (fighting protocol errors and server keys)
2) type "/register password password"
Instead of typing the word password, type what u want it to be. Passwords cannot contain spaces, must 4-8 characters, but can be anything you want.

----

Play in offline mode. If after joining the server you are not playing under your normal username and belt color, type "/login username password". The username is your username. The password is the pass you used to /register with.

Try emptying out your bin folder, your mods folder, and your texture pack folder. Let minecraft redownload and re-establish files, and try again.

Thanks i'll try it.

It's not working, Minecraft just freezes.
Remember that this to login when using Offline mode play. To get into Offline mode, enter the window where you have always entered your username and password. Next, enter the wrong username or password. click login. This should give you a button labeld "Play Offline". Click the "Play Offline" button, then multiplayer, then view your list (as normal), enter your desired server that you have registered on (such as mc.toj.cc), then type /login followed by your username and password. It give you the message to disconect and reconnect. You are now in, with NO Protocol errors, no server key errors, etc

Where is the password I type in stored? Who can see it? Can it be hacked? Is every one that made the mod trust worthy?

Password Storage and Security

The password that you enter is converted to an RSA 256bit hash encryption, then stored on the server. Noone has access to the original version and the encrypted hash can only be seen by a selected few admins including: grey, Tek7, and myself. Even with seeing the hash, we couldn't determine what it is withought knowing the encryption key plus having access to part of the encryption algorithm (which is compiled into classes). You can make the password anything you want, I didn't use my minecraft password, I created a new one.

Hmm it says I cannot use it when I am a guest. Simple server in not simple LOL

Please use /login when you are a guest. After the word login type your username, then a password. For example if you were logging in as username boy with the password of blue, you would type "/login boy blue."

You only need to /register only once. You do have to be signed in when you use /register.

You may register using the following steps (do this 1 time only):
1) Login to the server the normal way (fighting protocol errors and server keys)
2) type "/register password password"
Instead of typing the word password, type what u want it to be. Passwords cannot contain spaces, must 4-8 characters, but can be anything you want.
