Chivah's Sermons

I don't know how to use the chat log in this game, so for now, I'll just retype my sermon. But by next week, I should have it from the chat log.

"A farmer went out to sow his seed. And as he planted, some seeds fell on a pathway and could not grow roots. And birds came and ate them. Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded crop a hundred fold. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

"But I say to you who hear. Love your adversaries, and do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your shirt either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods, do not ask them back. And just as you want to be justly treated, you also do likewise. This is the kingdom of the God of the Light, and this kingdom awaits your heart."

"But if you only love those who love you, what special benefit is that? For even the wicked loves only those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what special benefit is that? For even the wicked does the same. And if you lend and give to those from whom can repay you back, what credit is that to you? For even the Hoarde lend to the Hoarde to receive as much back. But love your adversaries, do good and lend, hoping for nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the God."

"Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you many fold. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks."

"Whoever comes to me, and hears the word of God and does them, I will show you whom he is like. He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat violently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the soil without a foundation, against which the stream beat violently; and immediatly it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."

"So accept the Kingdom of God. Live a life full of love, and be just and fair. For by doing so, you will be truly living life, and the light will shine brightly in you. Love God with all of your heart, love your neighbors as yourself, and pray for your enemy and for those who persecute you. And in doing so, you will be letting the light of our God shine through you, and you will be like the sons and daughters of God.”

The sermon I had planned I did not give, as nobody attended. Instead, I did an outreach sermon for any wanderers who came in. And there were a few. :) Sermons will continue weekly on Wednesdays 7:45pm Eastern, but will be slightly delayed for consideration of stragglers. :)

How did it go with the people who wandered in?

I wish I could have been there, unfortunatly, I had to go and pick up my son unexpectadly from the other side of the city, otherwise I would have been there with bells and whistles.

I would have been there if i had remembered you were doing it =\ Have you been announcing it in guild chat?

When it comes to announcing it...I'll take the responsibility for. I can change the guild message of the day...and before I logged of on Tuesday, I looked at it and forgot about the Wednesday sermon at that time and didn't change the gmotd. So, I'll take my part of dropping the ball on that one.

Thats good to do the gmotd, but i mean actually saying somthing about it in the game. Like "Guys try to be in SW in 1 hour for Chivahs event." That way i realy know whats happening, i dont always see the gmotd.

I do apologize as I was relying soley on people's memories to attend. I figured if I held it regularly enough and often enough, it would be remembered and people would come if they wanted to. But yes, early on, since I'm just starting up, it won't always remembered. So not only will I say something in game, but I'll also try and post a reminder here in the forums.

On a side note, I still can't figure out how to get chat logging done. Hmm. But rest assured, I'm still looking into it.

<tries to remember where he placed his memory>
<wades thru kids karate, softball practice, homework, yardwork, chuch work, honey-do list, keeping up with Odale and Camm>

Nope, I got no memory left for WoW events................

It is not that I do not want to remember, its that well I need reminders and free nights. Which have not been many of late (free nights that is).

I love you Chivah and all the work you put into the studies. They are not in vain.

Don't forget guys. Service this Wednesday at Stormwind 8pm Eastern. Now just to let you guys know, I may be a little late as I have a meeting after work and I don't know what kind of aggro I'll get when I come home. But hold fast! I'll be there. :)

Wow, I didn't know this was a regular weekly thing! That's great! Of course today, I'm in a meeting at school until 8pm, and won't be home until 10pm. But I'll be with you all in Spirit. God Bless.

Just a reminder. Services will be held tonight at the Stormwind Cathedral at 8pm Eastern. I do apologize for those who are unable to make that time, for it is the only time alloted to me to give them.

I'll be pushing the Blizzard policies to the edges this service by what I will say, but I will say them none the less. So come one, come all if you can.

And after the service, we will hold communion together. Communion we won't do in say, but in a private channel as I won't cheapen that with Blizzard policies.

So God bless you all and hope to see you there.

Hey guys. Hope to see you at this Wednesday's service. We'll have a normal service this Wednesday at 8pm Eastern (7pm Central)

I've heard something about our last sermon got a lot of recognition. We'll see what this Wednesday holds for us. Just remember that no matter what happens, its all for God and for His children.

Love you all.

One of these days, we are going to have a sermon on the mount, or in a special hide away place, somewhere we can get out warlocks to, and then summon everybody to it.

The airport is not the only place I've been. Young took me on an excursion to some farout places, I've gotten myself to farout places.

Do not be afriad, my friends, of the devices of the enemy. Satan would desire nothing more than to drive us out of God's house. He would love nothing more than to have us stop planting the seeds to unplanted fields. I don't know what this Wednesday brings, but I will continue to come and proclaim God's truth for all to hear, and will put my faith and trust in God. If we are persecuted, then we are blessed for it. And if we aren't, then we are blessed by our efforts. Either way, we cannot lose can we?

However, I do enjoy the idea of holding some sort of special mountain top or exotic service. Wouldn't it be wonderful to fellowship together in such a circumstance? I will make a special service for such an occation. It will not just be a service where you sit down and I talk. It will be a service where we all worship together and praise together, and fellowship together. I like that idea.

5/25/5

I wish to say thank you for those who came and stuck through the service in patience. I do apologize for leaving after the service, but I had to clean out the two fish tanks. (one of the poor buggers died). For those of you who didn't make it, and for those of you who were there, but may have had difficulty following the service, here is the sermon for you to read and pray on.

Oh, and thank you Serai for volunteering to read the scripture for us. I'm sorry you had gotten disconnected right at that point, but it happens to all of us. So no worries.

Matthew 25: 14-15 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey."

There once was a time, even more so than now, when there were few heros roaming the lands. It was a time when the citizens had to avoid the major roadways because enemy soldiers would always patrol them. But there was one man of God who chose to roam these roads. He wasn't a swordsman or a hunter or a mage. He was just a devoted man of God who carried an ox goad, which is kind of an oversized stick. With this one stick, and the help of God, this man was reported to have killed close to 600 enemy soldiers. Can you imagine one man in regular clothing with a stick going toe to toe with an armored, skillful, enemy soldier? And these soldiers were known as the best during those days. But not a one could best Shamgar and his stick. But this very story teaches us a couple of things.

First, there is no weapon, no armor, no magic or skill that can ever compare to that of God's. Though many may boast and lay claim, there is not one person who can overpower God. My friends, when God is on your side, and you walk with Him, there are no devices of the enemy that can overpower you. Now I'm not saying that God will go out and help you win every single fight you pick. I'm saying that God is mighty, and if you are doing something for the sake of others, or you are doing something according to God's will, or you are doing something selflessly, and have prayed and believed in God's assistance, then you will become mightier than if you were to do this alone.

The second thing to learn from this story is that God gives each of us different abilities and talents. To some, he gives us the ability to wear mighty armor and become skillful with powerful weapons. To others, he gives only a stick and a robe of cloth. To some, he'll give a heart of mercy, and to others, wisdom, and still to others, an ability to lead, or an ability to serve. Now these abilities God gives us aren't abilities you learn yourself and become good at. Those are your abilities. The abilities that God gives you are supernatural, and give you more effectiveness than if you were to attempt it alone. For example, a fat woman with a raspy voice who sings with a supernatural passion from the Lord will turn hearts and bring forth tears, whereas a stud with a golden flowing hair, smooth tan, and buldging pecks who sings a practiced tune perfectly, may draw jealousy or boredom from the listeners.

My friends, if you remember anything from what I say today, you should remember this:

God can use you with exactly where you are and what you have. You don't have to seek to be stronger or neater or handsomer or more skillful. Just seek to be yourself, and be the best you that you can possibly be. Do the best you can with what you have, and do it for God and for others, and you'll find yourself doing great and mighty things for God. Even the very smallest of acts can be considered mighty. Don't try to do great things. Don't try to be someone great. Don't try to get what you don't have, thinking that will make you better than you are now. At this moment, at this time, you are the best you are with what you have right now. Don't any of you ever say, "I am nothing." or "I have nothing." For you have exactly what you need. Use it. Trust in it. And trust in God. And you will be just as mighty and noble as Shamgar or any other legendary hero.

Guild services will be held again this Wednesday, but this time, outside of Ironforge gates. This will be done mainly because immediatly after the service, we'll be doing some filming for the music video I'm creating.

Hope to see you all there.
