Using the open sourced FreeSpace2 game engine this looks promising. They have released a demo for Linux, OSX and windows. Despite the age on the engine the game still looks impressive and has a slick interface that is simplified in the total conversion.
I loved FreeSpace2, it is too bad the game never really took off :\
Once the file finishes uploading I will post a link for the linux installer (as it is BT only). The windows client seems well supplied so I don't think I will need to supply that.
Instructions (for when/if I provide a mirror) (eta 1AM CST Aug 18):
Note that SELinux doesn't like the client much and you may need to switch it over to permissive mode if you have it enabled.
