Alright, Redeemed, help me decide.

I suffer from what Piano and I have decided is altoholism. I have 9 characters that are 70 or higher with most being 80. This presents two problems. The first is that I'm always broke. The second is that none of them are ever very good. Tethra is my best so far and he's hardly in 264s.

So, going into Cata, I need help. I want to play one character. I'm going to want to dps in raids.

So far I've enjoyed the classes with a lot of lore. DK and warlock are my favorite for lore. I was a warlock for most of vanilla and bc.

I kinda want something new. Tell me what class to play and why.

Of note is that I like playing classes you don't see a lot of.

Also, don't worry about whether or not I mentioned the class. If you're thinking rogue, by all means, tell me why.

Well...not to discourage you, but I'm on my 8th 80. 3 have Kingslayer, and 2-3 more of them could easily have it as well. It's basically putting forth the effort into each individual toon before breaking off onto another toon. I'm already leveling another toon (mage @ 66).

The main breakdown is what style do you like playing most, i.e. healer vs melee vs caster vs tank. Each class has been given the ability to break out into it's own since patch 4.0+...it just takes getting used to.

If you are looking at a class that is least played...I would look into a lock or hunter. Locks are usually few and far between...especially good ones. Hunters are a dime a dozen...but since 4.0...the good ones are scarcely emerging.

I was just going to say what Angry said. Aside from the occasional Reco, I don't think I've seen any locks in our raids.

the new soul shard system for locks should definitely be some incentive for playing them as well as them being few in number for redeemed when I last played.

As long as you're not a dwarf shaman anything is good.

My lock is at this moment 88% to 80. I have enjoy playing him so much that I am considering making him my main...

I have thought about this as well. Let me start with two statements.

I am not an alt person. I usually have two toons max.

Unfortunately, I will most likely not have Cata when it releases.

However, I was thinking of waiting to see the new race/class combos before deciding if I wanted an alt.

Well, see Fierce, that's my problem, my dk and lock are in decent to good gear. Then there's my hunter, shaman, rogue, druid and paladin in some weird mix of things you can buy with badges (er, points) and blues. And finally priest, warrior and mage who are 75, 70 and 65 respectively. I wind up trying to gear them all and then nothing happens for any of them.

But you did what I asked and helped me decide. I've been missing my lock a lot anyway and let's face it, he has an awesome name. Ty, all. Now to decide if it's worth dropping mining for chanting or if I should drop both profs for herb/alch (seems like I can never find an alchy; and I want this bad boy like nobody's business http://db.mmo-champion.com/i/65891/vial-of-the-sands/ )

And that chart isn't exactly accurate. Off the top of my head, I ran an instance with a troll warlock in the beta. That's the only oversight I can see without going through one at a time.

My name is Pneuma and alts are my friend

6 80s

working on 7th

And I have no cure - I plan to level 3 more during the expansion to have one of each class

What's the new soul shard system?

You guys are all excited about locks - why is it I can't seem to ever level one? I've tried three times, and my current one is stuck at 23 as my guild bank mule. He's scheduled for deletion just prior to Cataclysm. Am I just not sticking with it long enough?

Yeah probably, my most solid raiding toon on Terenas was a lock. Once you get around 50ish and can effectively use affliction, it becomes it's own character. Before that you're mostly grinding with shadowbolts and it's noting more than a firemage with less fun stuff.

Souls shards aren't going to be in your bags anymore and are going to instead be another resource (similar to DK runes the way I've read about it so far) that can empower or allow certain spells for enhanced effects. Think you're given three at a time and they're either on a CD much like runes or they reset when you're out of combat like potions. I'm not 100% sure that this is right.
