Alien vs Predator 3 demo out NOW!

WoW...

Well, they were right, the Multiplayer system sucks!

However, the gameplay is very cool.

I managed to get 2 games going and I won...

Once you get the Shotgun, you own everything, except long-ranged marines.

Though, I got annoyed when I shot the Predator 4 times and still didn't die.

Sometimes, the Motion Tracker can be tricky when it says its infront of you when they are really above you. (Aliens on the ceiling)

Still, once you get a game going, it can be very heart-pounding, especially when the Motion Tracker starts beeping faster.

So much so that I wasn't able to get into a game after 10 minutes of trying.

I'll give it another shot tomorrow night, but I'm not going to spend 10-15 minutes every time I want to play a multiplayer demo. I'm hoping tonight was a fluke and tomorrow will be a better experience.

I was able to play a few AvP demo matches and my response can be summarized in three letters: Meh.

Call of Duty 4 does modern weapon combat better.

Natural Selection, a Half-Life mod, does alien combat better. (Skulk > AvP alien.)

And I didn't play as Predator, so I can't post an informed opinion of the game's third faction.

Overall, the controls were awkward (initially leading me to believe that the game is based on Unreal Engine 3, which is incorrect; according to Wikipedia, the game uses a proprietary engine dubbed Asura), a lack of dedicated servers led to latency issues, the single level included in the demo was torn from the "real is brown" playbook, and the game is obviously designed for hardware more powerful than my notebook. It's not a bad game so much as one that I just didn't find myself enjoying.

It looks like I'm going to be playing Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 for a while; I'm just not feeling the last few new FPS games I've played.

But I will say this: Corp.fox rocks the AvP demo. In the one game we played together, he took the high score. If you've got a beefy computer, liked the AvP demo, and are looking for a challenge, keep an eye out for Corp.fox.

Huh, nice review.

I just played a couple games with Sarugon and hes pretty good as the Alien.

The main reason I do best than others is because most of the players are in-experienced. Asking stuff like, "How to block" and "How to use the Plasma Cannon for the Predator". -_-

Also, as Marine, the rest I am terrible with.

Hehe, its funny, the last game, I was the only Marine in the game. :p

I hope to get around the Single Player once its released.

Just tried the PS3 demo and it seems fun. The Marine is pretty straight forward and your right the motion tracker beeping does build a lot of tension, especially when its hard to see in certain areas. The Alien seems unique & could be a lot of fun but also harder to be effective with imo. I have yet to try the Predator also but I've been killed by them enough :)

"Real is brown", wut? O_o

I'll give it another shot once I actually figure out how to block as marine. xD
