This is getting out of hand, the amount of down time this game has, they better reimburse me for the day of down time. They have to schedule the maintance for my entire day off...

Quote[/b] ]The weekly realm maintenance normally scheduled for Tuesday morning has been moved to this Thursday, January 13, at 4:00 AM PST. As part of this week's maintenance, we will be making improvements to our current infrastructure to address recent performance issues. Please note that implementing these improvements will extend the duration of the maintenance window to approximately 16 hours. We thank you in advance for your patience during this time; we will work diligently to bring the realms up as quickly as possible.

Illidan is not on that list, it should only be down for the 4hrs

They changed it later in the day, at first it said every server was going down for 16 hours... I posted exactly what they said orignaly.

That is rather rediculous, but think about it. They have a HUGE fanbase and... most of them were going to buy Wow. Fans had 2 years to get excited about it, Blizzard even announced WoW before i played Daoc on '02. They should have had some idea about the massive amounts of people that were going to buy the game. And in my opinion we should have chosen a medium pop or even a low pop server instead of illidan. I think, if we are going to try to create a horde guild too, we need to go to a medium or low pop server.

if possible and they let us move our characters we should look at like blouderfist or something its a PVP low pop server right now.

guys actually its good that they are taking some servers down as its an "infrastructure upgrade"...in fact i'm sad that illidan was not on that list.

As for moving servers, I think when they let a one time transfer start we should wait before moving too soon.

We chose Illidan just two hours after the first day the game released, so I don't want to hear about how we should have chosen another one.

Well... that was in my most humble opinion, Bowser. I am getting DSL on Friday, it wont matter (as much) soon. And ive been on low pop servers before, it is hard, but we have 4x people in the guild, it would give us more incentive to group together and help people out. And was illidan listed as a high population server from the get go? Im not sure how they classify them...

I'm not convinced a low pop server would be much fun, especially after experiencing a very much alive server such as illidan. When there is nobody around...I'll get lonely. And seeing as I use poisoned daggers...you don't wan't me to get lonely.

lol

Well, if we joined an RP or PvE server it wouldn't matter much. The main reason I would want to join a low pop server with PvP though is because of all the ganking that goes on (and Lord knows the Alliance NEVER helps), and so low-pop would mean less fighting and being killed while questing.

I don't think a low-pop server would affect our member base much either, because most of the members of the guild knew what server we played on before we added them. In truth, we haven't added that many people that were already playing on Illidan...most were already either members of the chapter or came from other chapters within the ToJ community (namely: DAoC and Warcraft 3).

Playing on a low-pop has a lot of advantages to it. For instance, it could help solve the problem all of us are having with the lag in Ironforge. We would be able to solo and form smaller groups more, rather than maxing out the group size and getting minimal experience for a low level creep that you could defeat by yourself anyway. While it's not bad, it would also reduce the amount of time we have to wait in line to log in on certain days. Given, it's usually not long at all and is most of the time non-existent, but still it would be nice to log in directly just as soon as you wanted to.

btw - I support either a low or a high population server, I'm just giving the benefits one has over another, since we already play on one of the busiest servers.

haha! you all should join server Garona!!!!! its the best! i never lag or anything and its not shut down!!!! common you know you wanna play with faylinx

Well, in Daoc, a low pop server had around 700, mabye even 500 people on in all three realms. That meant that you only played with around 200 or 300 people. I have heard that Illidan has around 10,000 people on it... i dont believe that at all. But if it is true, that means that the lower population servers would have around 5k people on them. 5000 people is alot of people, thats enough to get groups and enough to get quests and other things done. Percival on dark ages averaged about 2000 people every night, i got my reaver, vexos to 48 in 4 or 5 months with 5000 people, a personal record =P (the leveling in that game stank like an old diaper). Im not suggesting we be all radical and immediately go to a low population server for the horde guild with out giving a high or medium pop server a second thought.

according to WoW census (not 100% accurate) Blouderfist is about 3k or so in pop. it is PVP and is about 2-1 alliance or something.

The best part of a Lower PoP server is that they will expand and grow, but you do not have to deal with the 30min or so que to log in, which on a server like illidian can only get higher and higher.

Now many PvP'ers choose to join Illidian on the horde side because of DIE, it is one of the most hated guilds in WoW by the horde. many people love the chance to beable to get together and just own them constantly.

My oppion though, from my experience in the beta and now talking with people in game about it.

Yeah, it's unbearable at times, especially in battles. (Not to mention ressing..ugh!)
