How can an omnibenevolent God allow this to happen?

DV is just being blunt about a logical conclusion that he has arrived upon, and is merely asking for an explanation that you all can offer. You say that there are things that just cannot be explained, as God's wisdom is far superior to our own, but that doesn't mean that we should seek an...

How can an omnibenevolent God allow this to happen?

Well one answer is that he didn't intervene at all: It just happened. That could be another explanation to the enigma of when and where and why Godly intervention takes place. Have you considered that it doesn't?

How can an omnibenevolent God allow this to happen?

Now see, that's where it gets tricky. What's the difference between the devil commiting evil acts and God allowing the devil to commit them, with full knowledge that he will? It's the same thing as an angel coming down to earth to do some goodly deed, is it not? And angelic actions are...

How can an omnibenevolent God allow this to happen?

Well one question that needs to be answered here is that of to what degree does God influence our lives? Does he actively do things like jam peoples' guns? Should he? Is he present in our lives at every moment, or does he merely watch us and sees what happens?

    The wife submitting

Could someone please clarify the definition of 'submit' in this case? Semantics are pretty important here.

    Constantine

I found the film entertaining in that it was an interesting twist on the reality of religious theology and prophecy. However I do agree that the film could be potentially dangerous to a person's religious perspective and understanding if they don't know their angels from their demons going into it.

I just saw this movie, and I'm curious as to what you all think of it. Your thoughts?

    macromini

Yeahs, basically what Didasko said. Micro evolution is generally accepted as being true, while macro evolution is much more controversial for its lack of substantial evidence and radical premise.

    Probability

I agree, ridiculous was a bad word choice. 'Unlikely' or 'strange' would have been more apt methinks.

    Probability

Yeah, methinks that would be the intelligent designer theorists you are referring to. Not a big fan of their ideas myself..but of course, as ridiculous as it sounds, we should always consider the possibility of intelligent aliens being the source of our origin. I imagine what it would be like...

    Probability

Impossible beyond a threshold of possibility? I find that pretty illogical; that goes against the very definition of 'impossible.' Could you better explain this concept to me?

    Probability

But I'm not saying that it did occur, I'm saying that it's possible that it did occur. As opposed to impossible, which is what seems to be advocated in this thread.

    Probability

The analogy has nothing to do with creationism or evolution, it merely illustrates that even the most improbable of things are still possible. In the same way, while the probability of DNA assembling by chance may be 10^40000 to 1, it is not an impossibility.

    The Temple Mount

Whoo...that will sure cause some rumblings in Isreal. I imagine muslims will want to rebuild the mosque in the same spot.. I am not familiar with the particular mount--is there room for two places of worship?
