I play on a PVP server periodically, and I know a mage that would use a level 1 frost bolt spell to apply the movement slowing effect to his opponent. The level 1 frost bolt had a faster cast time and used less mana, and then he would unload on his opponent after that.

There are already coordinate systems used for the game code to determine where you are at any given point in the "world". I don't see why that information could not also be used on the interface to help the player navigate on the x, y, and z axis.
