Easiest way to explain it is, "Garbage in, garbage out." Songs with depressing, sexual or profane lyrics are going to affect your thoughts, moods, and vocabulary. I would advise you to avoid them. But don't let that stop you from listening to secular music. Look up the lyrics before you listen...
