Man, the sale on the 360 makes me wish (1) I was employed and (2) there was a way to make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN I'd receive a 360 with a Jasper chipset and (3) Microsoft wasn't so fail at gaming hardware.
 
Thanks Ewok! I ordered it for myself, too bad my estimated delivery date isn't until the 16th of December (3 wks out).

I think its safe to say now you wont get a non-jasper unit now.

I'm the kind of guy who wants some kind of statement that the Microsoft hardware I'm considering purchasing stands a reasonable (i.e. not below industry standards) chance of not failing on me in the first year of operation--and I want the statement signed in blood. The RROD extended warranty isn't the issue for me. I just want any hardware I spend $300 to work, work out of the box, and continue working for at least a few years.

In short, I'll probably never own a 360. There's not much on the console that interests me that isn't available on the PS3 as well, anyway.

MSFT has also been banning consoles for piracy... so the pirates have been seeding the used 360 market with permabanned consoles. So instead of just risking a RROD, you risk getting a console that wont connect to live.

I ordered a copy as well. My estimated delivery date is 12/15. :(

I downloaded a copy of the demo, in the meantime.
