New Member Note: Need Healers and AOE Tank

I have never raided before buy my priest is level 58 now so once he hits 70 I be glad to help. I can’t get on until 9pm central so that might be too late but I do what I can.
 
9pm Central is 7pm server time. Which is only an hour after starting time most times, definatly wait list material. Anything you need to know about priests, give me a tell.
 
Ok I guess I need to know what I need to get started raiding as a priest. Do haft to spec mostly Holy or can I spec Disp for some PvP utility?
 
For healing a raid there is two acceptable general specs. The first one is taking Improved Divine spirit in Disc and stopping there and the rest in holy picking up the healing talents. The second, once you get over 1700 healing is 20 disc and 41 holy for Circle of Healing.

While you level to 70, you choose your spec. Once you hit 70, you'll want to pick up most of the healing \ mana saving utility talents you can get during raids. Off raids, again, what ever spec you choose is your own business. I used to swap between a battle-pvp-survivalist-priest spec and a holy healing spec for off and on raids.

Some of the skill you want to work on for healing raids is stretching that mana pool. I know I'm seriously overgeared for nearly all the instances, even on heroic. But I tell the tank to pick the pace based on whether or not I have 25% mana. Under 25% mana, no pulls, drink up. Then I challenge myself to never get down to 25% mana during the whole instance so the whole instance is one continuous pull. This helps to teach you how to determine which heals to use when, when to heal, when a heal is needed and when it is not needed and to leave enough mana for a holy smokes thats a bad pull and get you through it without panicking. Oh, and PUG it. There is nothing like learning how to heal when people do stupid things nearly all the time on every pull. You also need to learn to shut off useless critism. I don't care if a hunter who used multishot and broke all the sheeps died with out heal from me. And having a pug hunter who does that every pull will thicken your skin alot.
 
Well I still got a lot of leveling to do being that I am only lvl 32 but I plan to spec Resto with my Druid and would love to heal for a raid. Also the raid times are perfect for me.

I have a 70 Hunter on another server that I have been thinking about bringing over. She has Kara gear or better. I want to make my druid my main for sure since I really am best suited to play a healing class but I wouldn't mind bringing her over to help out the guild if you need DPS to gear more healers with Kara stuff.

Thats the problem, only way to attain raider status is to show up for raids consistantly.

Drops from these bosses is open to roll by anybody who needs the gear. Raider status means nothing.

And when I mentioned for most teams, progression is Kara I mean on a person by person basis. I may be in a Kara group with 4 new to Kara, in mostly blues and some greens. Kara is not progression for me, but to them it is.
 
Did VR just last week, took down HKM and tried Gruul as well, don't know what happened, couldn't down him. Been a month or so since Mag or Lurker.
 
Us raiders pay repair bills taking new peeps to the raids that we have on farm and don't need gear from all the time. We don't take the gear, the new peeps do. Due to the level of our gear our repair bills are high and the only reward we get is seeing very happy people get geared up. Why is it so hard for others to do that for the raiders?
 
It looks like Blizz is trying to make disc priests a more viable healer spec again. These are some "leaked" talents for WotLK.

Spell 47515
Name: Divine Aegis
Description: Critical heals create a protective shield on the target, absorbing 30% of the amount healed. Lasts $47753d.

Spell 47518
Name: Grace
Description: Your Flash Heal, Greater Heal, and Penance spells bless the target with Grace, reducing damage done to the target by 1%, and increasing healing done to the target by 2%. This effect will stack up to 3 times.

Spell 47539
Name: Rapture
Description: Causes your party members to gain mana equal to ${$m1/2}.1% of the healing done by your Greater Heal, Flash Heal and Penance spells.

Spell 47540
Name: Penance
Description: Launches a volley of holy light at the target, causing $47666s1 Holy damage to an enemy, or $47750s1 healing to an ally every $47758t2 sec for $47758d.

Now we don't know for sure what these numbers will look like or even if all of these talents will stay in but it looks good.

<<sigh>> going to have to wait and see quite honestly. These look good on the surface but lets hope they put in some strong holy talents so that priests don't feel they have to go down two trees to be viable healers while the other healing able classes just have to go down one tree.
 
once my exams are finished on tuesday of next week , i plan to work on linnk and getting him into kara but atm im stuck between studing and fixing my computer after the little explosion accident with my dvd drive last weekend.

truely , i dont know what happened to make it explode but my guessing is while i was fixing the door to the drive , i hit something that set off something else and the next thing i remember is awaking up on the floor stareing at the blackened insides of the drive itself.
