Christmas Party/Outreach: Dec 21st, 9:30 PM EST

It's about that time again. We will be having our second annual Spirit of Elijah Christmas Party and Outreach on Thursday, December 21st starting at 9:30 PM EST in the SOE guild hall.

We will start out with a "Scripture reading" of the Christmas story from one of the gospels. After that, we will be doing a random gift swap (optional). Bring an in-game gift (somewhere between 1-2 plat in approximate value) and everyone participating will type /random 100 at the same time. The presents will be given in order of lowest number to greatest, and who ever is high number will give whoever is low number their gift. Everyone will announce what gift they are giving, so if a warrior ends up with a paper fan and a mesmer ends up with a shield, you can trade later. :)

After the gift exchange, we will be having an outreach of some sort. I'm unsure exactly how that is going to work, so I'll leave that up to our Outreach Coordinator to plan the details.

Uhmm, I guess that's me. I may or may not be able to attend that night, however, I've read that the guild went Christmas Caroling last year, and I think that is a great idea and a good tradition to carry on this year. So, I propose that we go Kamadan, Kaineng Center, Lion's Arch, and Droknar's Forge and spread some cheer this year. More details to follow, as always, suggestions are welcome.
 
WOOT! My first Guild Wars Christmas!! I would want to spend it with no other people. (is it alright if someone from one of the other guilds gets a hall invite so he can participate with us)

Don't let that stop you from coming and bringing something to exchange the range was a suggestion I am sure.

Caroling is SO FUN!! Was a blast last year! hope maybe we an do it a few times before Christmas!

Yeah, we went caroling. We had much grander plans for several songs originally, but few people showed up for the actual event. We zoned through several disctricts of LA and had each party member recite a line from a single Christmas carol (I don't remember which at the moment) in succession so that they showed up as nearly a continuous block on local chat.

We had a couple people actually recognize this as caroling. We did try to stand together in a prominent spot (on the steps near the frog) and music emote as well.

The worst feedback we had was after saying "Merry Christmas from SoE" was "Sony Online Entertainment?"

I have a hunch it may be difficult to coordinate this if we try to do lots of songs. So, we'll only be doing some select verses of maybe three different Christmas carols just to keep the event manageable, The lyrics are posted below, so when we are spreading some holiday cheer you can cut and paste, and we will all be singing from the same sheet of music ;)

"An in-game gift" between 1-2 platinum... so 5-10 Red Capes for Gwen? Or is it supposed to be one item? :)
 
Soooo... I don't have that kind of dough. I mean, I'll see what I can do in the next couple of days, but I have 2 characters right now--one just got to the Canthan mainland and one is in Fort Ranik, so I'm not exactly raking in the cash... Maybe I can buy some gold of ebay. ;) Any other (perhaps more legal) ideas?

Just wanted to point out that the gift swap is optional, and not a requirement to attend the christmas party. Please don;t feel like you must bring a gift!
