1 John 2:28-29 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
28 Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not [a]shrink away from Him in shame [b]at His coming. 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is [c]born of Him.

If we wish to be righteous we must live in Him daily. If we live righteous other will recognize us as belonging to Him. Again simple concept, but so hard to do. That means we must practice one of the main practices we saw Christ model, prayer. One of the first steps in practicing to be righteous.
