“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
-Luke 10:41-42 (NIV)

Today's votd happens to be the last two verses of today's Bible reading.

I know when I used to read this or hear this portion of Scripture, I used to wonder why what Martha was doing was wrong (to give some context, Jesus came into Martha and her Sister Mary's house on his travels and while there, Martha spent her time serving Jesus and worrying about hospitality while Mary sat at his feet). Shouldn't have serving Jesus been a good thing to do? Well yes, it was a good thing, however it was distracting her from what was important: time and a relationship with Jesus. This is something Mary seemed to have a better grasp on.

While we are in different circumstances today, always remember to take time to spend in communion with Jesus a midst your hectic lives (even if what you are doing is for the glory of God). I know that is something that I need to work on.
