"How is your new pc?"

My 'new' pc is good. Speed awesome, voices/background nice great, but.....I can not play any games that require a brand name video card; Halo, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike...or even the up-coming releasing games; Half-Life 2, Doom 3.

As soon as I get a brand name video card, the problem will go away. Till then, I'm playing Starcraft.

My video card is 64MB and its called, Unichrome.
This video card is sooooo bad, I still lag on Software mode on CS.

Plus when I hold more than 2 keys, keyboard and mouse jams up, and I become a perfect head-shot target.

my fav resolution has to be 640x480 (again and again thanks goes out to Goose62 for this great recommendation.) It does look blocky, but i play my BEST at this resolution. Works like a charm.

I'm sure your videocard supports OpenGl. What software does is CPU does all the rendering, not the videocard, so it'll still lag you since CPU's visual rendering is limited.

ATI Radeon 9000 pro, and 9200 seires are very cheap, relatively good performance wise. I'd say go try them. 9000 is AGP 4x, so i'd say go for 9200 since they got AGP 8x capabilities. Of course you can wait for the PCI Express to come out, but its your choice. my current Radeon 9600 XT is awesome, and if you have the money, recommended.

Oh, and about the Mouse/keyboard jam up. If its USB compatible, use USB, if not, try this.

My computer->Hardware tab-> Device manager-> rightclick Mouse(KeyboarD)->properties->Power management tab->Uncheck Allow computer to turn this device off to save power.

See if it worked.

At any video size on OpenGL, the mouse cursor blinks alot that its almost disappearing in Steam.

My new Athlon XP [edited]2800+[/e], 512 mb ddr ram, Windows XP with 64mb intergrated video card, does not work fine on any Steam games and new released games.
Steam: Counter-Strike OpenGL, 800x600, Smoke Grenade worst looking;faster, Brightness full, Gamma full:
Lag: 150-(400 <--lag spikes)
All scoped weapon; Scout, AWP, Auto-Rifles, SIG, AUG: Lag boasts 40-60 more and keyboard/mouse lags 3-5 secs per movement.
Menu Option for buying equipment and console menu: 40-60 more lag and keyboard/mouse lags 3-5 secs per movement or/and per typing

I'm using wired keyboard and mouse, not my wireless/optical because it lags 2x(twice). Everything above is my new pc with wired keyboard/mouse.

My old e-machines 633mhz, 192 mb ram, Windows XP with 32mb nvidia video card tnt2, works fine on CS but can not other newer games cause they require 1 Ghz.
Steam: Counter-Strike OpenGL, 800x600, Smoke Grenade worst looking;faster, Brightness full, Gamma full:
Lag: 130-(4,000+ <--lag spikes)
No lag on scoped weapons, buying equipment and console menu.

Used wireless keyboard/optical mouse, glitches alittle, but I get used to it. Everything about is my old pc with wireless keyboard/optical mouse.

Any Questions?

My wired keyboard/mouse is using PS2, I dont think using power management will help it.

My wireless keyboard/optical mouse has......PS2, no USB!
My old pc never had a power management option, my newer one does, havent tried it yet.

ouch man, my comp came with a 32mb S3 prosavage card and it does decent job with openGL, you can get some good deals on e-bay for cards or try outpost.com

Atown, *sigh*, I know your trying your best to help out, *sigh*, look at my avatar, its a Canadian Flag, from Canada, *sigh*.

Everyones helpful information is America only, and I'm not american. U.S. currency is different than Canadian currency. [Depends of the cost]

<u>Diamond Stealth S80 128MB AGP Video Card with RADEON 9200 SE 3D Chip
Price: $ 79.99 - Outpost.com

Diamond Stealth Radeon 9200SE AGP 128MB Video Card

Either advice me which video card is better, or just don't tell me a shop sells it cheaper than in Canada.

Mouse USB, works well.

No power management on keyboard, only mouse, its unchecked. "Allow computer to turn this device off to save power."

It jams up because my reactions are too fast, that the keyboard/mouse has to take time to adjust.

eg; In CS, shooting left, then front, then right, then behind cause a jam.
