FFXI, the first FF online game is on sale on steam for $5...

Now...before you jump out and buy this, I have a few "warnings" for you...this game was released 9 YEARS ago and still has a very steady subscription base...however, the game is not solo friendly, because it is 9 years old you may find the graphics dated, and it has a launcher system called Play Online that can be annoying...

With the warnings aside...it is a great game...and is worth messing around with until FFXIV comes out...

If anyone is going to be picking this up, let me know and maybe we can get a small linkshell together to have some group fun...which was what the game was designed around in 2001...

Get it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/23390/

Xion, I might sign up for FFXI for a bit.
What's the monthly price?

Cool idea about playing FFXI until the new game comes out.

My old characters are on Valefor

So maybe we could roll toons on Valefor for a time, or doesn't have to be Valefor, just saying :)

Okay, cool, JonZ and I already bought it... :) Since we only need to play it for 2 months, it would be $5 for the game + $12 for the monthly fee for the 2nd month, so a total of $17 for the 2 months :)

We will try to play on Valefor...but I think you need to give us a buddy pass or something...unless you can now choose your server...

I can't find my old password and SE isn't too friendly with doing online
password recoveries.
Gonna just download the $5 version and get a new login.
Not sure how long it will take. And I might need a buddy pass,
or something so I can be on the same server

You get to pick your server now...and Jon and I kinda plan on messing around with it on this weekend...and we have no clue what to do...LOL

I think I can figure it all out again. Its been awhile.
So what server did you end up on after all?

Oh, if the three of us (and others) get to play FFXI, it would be great if one was a tank (Warrior) and one of us was a healer (White Mage), the other a DD type, probably a Black Mage.

I'm willing to play anything, I would lean toward tanking since, I think I might have more experience with the game. But I can roll any type
for the fun of joining together.

We started in Bastok, and I am a White Mage and Jon is a Red Mage...

His character name is Darkmyth, and mine is Xiontawa...

ok guys, it doesnt look like I'll be able to get in FFXI.
I bought the game and downloaded it.
Then was going through the registration (PlayOnline) with my debit card,
but the system would not accept it due to the card not being registered
with SecureCode.
So I go to the SecureCode site to register my card
and that site says my card number is invalid.

Not sure why FFXI is so picky about cards.
I use my card every day without any problems.
I dont have credit cards, and my debit card is all I have.
I think it's due to the PlayOnline feature that SE is still using.

That SecureCode is being put on everything now...caused us some issues buying stuff on Amazon :( Sorry to hear about your issues with it :(
