In a previous post we established that God is truthful. Therefore, if you draw nigh to God, He will draw nigh to you. The Bible tells us that we can look at nature and see God. I believe we are born with a yearning for God. Please believe me, I do not think that I have arrived by any means...I think the world's problems, mine included, are an attempt to stuff other things in place of a heart that truly seeks to be filled with God. Perhaps gleaning from Tozer might benefit you, I recommend Spurgeon, too! great teachers, I am always hoping they will rub off on me
I am sorry, sir, I do not mean to offend. Nevertheless, it seems obvious that you read anything of God, especially His Word, determined to find argument. The Bible and the things of God are all about faith. Simple, childlike faith.
I beg to differ with you. In some cases the switch is not waiting to be turned on, it is encased in steal and locked, refusing to allow anyone's hand, more especially the Master's, to touch it!
It is always frustratingly heartbreaking to see someone not accept Christ. Then, when I see someone so strongly determined not to accept Him, it is even more so. I would think someone who has had a horrible life might have an excuse. Yet, I see that I have been through trials, we all have, they are meant to grow us in the LORD. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye many be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1: 3&4
Romans 5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
The catastrophic flood of His blood for our sins would be a shame to ignore. Still, He wants us willing to give our hearts, not as if obeying robotic commands.
Why not simply accept Him with childlike faith, blind trust, reading His Word that you allow to choke you, and instead allow it to melt your heart? Then, with a victory yell over the enemy of our soul, "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day," as in II Timothy 1:12.
Whew~! Enough said
I will never get married off arguing like this, a man would much perfer a corner of a housetop! Or compare me to Chinese water torture!
