Vista home premium.

On my desktop i have the same windows, but it seems to be a cut and dry UI (No fancy stuff on the top and bottom, and the start menu is closer to Xp's than anything.). It also seems to run less ram intensive, and i'm wondering if i can change some settings in this vista to make it the same as the desktop, if you understand what i'm talking about then let me know.

There are a lot of in-depth configuration changes and registry tweaks you can do, but this is a very simple way to greatly boost performance. Probably not the case with Vista, but I know that Windows XP ran great on an old Pentium 2 machine I had by simply clicking "Adjust for best performance".
