Some changes to how info and stuff is distributed...

Up until now we had been using a Facebook group and blog for sharing and some info giving... While this was nice, anyone without Facebook could not see it, and it was not being used very often...and the blog was almost completely pointless...

I have done some research and thinking...and have decided to drop both the blog and the FB group and go with a FB page instead... Why? ...because anyone can see a Facebook page and it's contents without being a FB user; I can have our page updates and posts go straight to our website; and anyone who "likes" the page, can post text, pictures, or video...so it still works as a great sharing tool...

Is that a Bokken you are holding in the photo?

I check your web page now and then so don't feel like no one looks at it :) . I don't check anything I have to sign up for though. I have enough login/passwords to keep track of already plus I don't want any spam :) .

Thanks for checking my site...hehe...yeah, it is a Bokken...

Nice thing about the new facebook page, you don't have to sign up for Facebook to see it, and if you visit the MC website...all the FB posts are there...no need to sign up or sign in...or even visit Facebook for that matter :) Just keep an eye on http://toj.cc/mc to know what it going on :)

Big down side... I don't get emails when you update that page... like I did on group.

Personally this was an annoyance for me, since I check my Facebook regularly...

However, I am sorry, but I think the 3 main points of this change are necessary...

I will look into using a 3rd party medium in order to push notifications on a Facebook page to email...
 
Way out there but ...

If you used wordpress to post updates in a blog, they would automatically post to the facebook page AND people could subscribe to get emails. But not sure how you have it working to update your webpage, so that might mess it up. Also, not sure if you can connect the wordpress to a "page" as opposed to a "profile." Never tried that. But maybe you could figure that out if needed or wanted. :)

Eh, maybe this is way out there ...

I used to host a FULL wordpress site (as in installed in a DB on my server) for our chapter...but really, I am having time issues...keeping the server up to date, and running well, on top of so much other stuff for the chapter, on top of RL stuff...let's just say MC is taking up way too much time as it is, and I barely get to play...
