Lore Fitting Character Names

So I just spent far too long working on names for my band of heroes and am hoping that they are unique enough to not be claimed already. However, while I don't plan on serious role-playing, I do want my characters to fit into the game they are playing.

For example, my monk in GW1, His Traveling Monk, isn't exactly something most Ascalonians are named. However, Charr have a Roman theme going on for them in GW2 and usually have a descriptive surname tied into their legion, ergo, Marius Bloodbound fits perfectly into Charr society.

So, if there are people out there that are still trying to work on names for characters here are a couple sites that helped me out.
Guild Wars 2 Guru - condensed information from...
Role-playing site - very in depth with all the races and professions

For those that are not using lore names, please don't take this the wrong way. I have no problem you naming your characters whatever you'd like. :)

Good links and thoughts...

I also found that names that work for pilgrims work really well for human adventurers.

I like the idea of picking one name and varying it, to avoid confusion when I run into friends on my different characters. I ended up settling on Enoch a base name. I hope it'll be obscure enough that I can grab it at head start, and it has the potential to fit all the races I want to play with some tweaking.

Enokk for the Asura tendency to end their male names with double consonants and "k" seems to be a favorite.

Even though Enoch comes out of Hebrew, it looks close enough to the Gaelic names that seem to be the inspiration for Sylvari.

I doubt I'll end up playing Norn, but there is a Norwegian version, "Enok".

And of course, it's a human name to begin with, so throw the right surname on there to reflect human background, and it's good to go.

behindthename.com is a great resource for names in general. There's also a surname version of the site. Invaluable for finding names that mean something.

How many roleplayers do we have at the moment? It's something I'd be interested in doing in game, though I never have before. Played plenty of pnp rpgs.

Role playing? All 26 of my GW characters have their own personality, and give me grief for different things. I just love the voices in my head.

Ah video games where have imaginary friends is finally socially acceptable XD :p .

I also have 5 names prepared and ready to go. My human, Charr and Norn names are fairly long and unique. I don't think I'll have trouble snagging any of them. My Asuran and Sylvari names though are short 1 word names and may be taken quickly. I'm gonna do my best to login as soon as the servers open on the 25th and hope I grab them.

They are very similiar to the ones you've picked out STC but not identical. Good luck snagging them!

As far as role-playing goes, I intend to role-play a bit while on ts/mumble. My charr, sylvari, Asuran and human characters already have distinctive personalities even thought they haven't been born yet. I think i've been hanging around Ursen too much.

I'm reading through Ezra and keeping a list of really kick-awesome names that I find that I'm pretty sure will be free.

I figure if my names are so generic they would be taken, I don't really want them.

I'm not too worried about them. The only ones I think might be at risk the most is Temujin and Lexxa. Lexxa because it's fairly simple, Temujin because it's the name of Ghengis Khan and not original at all. Khiran and Marius should be in the clear and I have different variations of Raeyn ready to roll.
