HEADS UP ALL WOW MEMBERS

I just got an email telling me I was breaking the EULA for Blizzard by "selling" my account. I have not done this nor I plan on doing so.

Since my husband games as well, he sets up all payments, email accounts associated with our games, etc. He just checked this for me and we have a totally different email account than the one I just received the message in.

This is a scam and I know they probably found my email here. Just be cautious on your actions to messages you receive on your gaming accounts. No need to help the thiefs gain access.

/waves at Litsa!!

There was someone in the Redeemed forums that got one of these.

The best thing to do is delete it.

That's interesting. I got the same email, well not the same. I checked the other thread and my email wasn't like that. It didn't ask for personal info or account info.

But the great part is: I have never played WoW! Hardly even seen it played as a matter of fact. Maybe a couple minutes watching my friend. But idk the first thing about it. Unfortunately if it is a scam, they can't scam anything. I wrote back to them clearly stating that I don't have a WoW account and that they SHOULD lock and ban the account in question. :)

Usually they just are fishing to see if an email account is live.....you showed them it was.

No, the mail server will say if the address is valid or not. If it can't receive it usually it notifies the sender. They are hoping someone screws up and they will get to sell an account worth several hundred $$ on ebay or a similar auction site. This is in the same class as nigerian scams, except instead of not being rewarded you might be punished for NOT responding. Because the domains are so similar people probably fell for it, which is going to suck for them. All the scammer needs is a fraction of a percent to respond with their credentials and they will probably be rolling in money.

The first thing I would check would be to see if that whole 3-hour probation was in effect. :p The second thing I would note is that blizzard gives out 3-day, not 3-hour probations. What's 3 hours going to do? Maintenence is longer than 3 hours.

And, additionally, Blizzard would never require to fax ID. They already have it.

After I sent a reply to the Wowaccountadmin.com thing, a human, with credentials and links sent this back

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this issue. However, the e-mail which you are contacting us about was not sent by our Account Administration Department, and appears to be a "phishing" e-mail attempting to obtain account information. I'm not seeing any account attached the email you are contacting us from, or emails sent by us to you. These e-mails are NOT from Blizzard. All account actions and inquiries will have the return address of Wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com; these phishing e-mails, in most cases have the return address of something close that may be overlooked if you are not paying close attention, or they will disguise the return address but redirect your reply.

Thank you for your time and patience in this matter.

Sincerely,

So yea, it's a scam. Even tho it never asked me for any personal info..
