Guild Wars: Chapter 3

That's awesome. I hope they do something like the Aztecs or something after that. That'd be pretty cool.

...and we'd be paying 50 bucks every six months to get a new stinkin' chapter? I'm glad I'm getting a DVD player for my compy instead... I won't be going to Cantha, sorry, but I'll be pwning on BF2...

I'm a college student who is still irresponsible with his money... therefore I'll see you all in chapter 3 and probably every other chapter they make :p . Well, that is until I get bored with it of course.

Spending 50 dollars every six months > spending 35 dollars once

Until you buy SF, and the 2 booster packs, its almost the same cost.

I wonder if they are gonna make a chapter for each major continent.

I don't know if all chapters will be $50. It may be a little cheaper than that, you never know. I still prefer paying this way rather than a monthly fee. This way, if you don't have the money, you can always play what you've already paid for. With monthly fee MMOs, if you aren't paying that fee, you can't even keep playing what you've paid for. This just doesn't make sense to me. You pay full retail for the game and then HAVE to pay a monthly fee to actually play it.

yeah. frankly, $50 optional chapters are far superior to mandatory monthly fees. hey, ANet needs money one way or another.
heck, every 6 months you pay $90 dollars with fees. it's still a good deal, even if the chapters were mandatory. it'd equate to 8.33 a month. and in the case of Factions, 4.15 a month.

I wouldn't mind supporting this market technique. I'm hoping more companies starting picking up this and putting out sans-fee mmorpgs.

atlantis on antartica? i believe that novel ripped off of StarGate. jk.

I didn't say I wanted them to make money to nerf all the builds we find so superior and to nerf all the stuff we could but now can't make virtual GW money on, I just want them to make a free game :p

On top of being able to play without the expansions, the fee is covering expanded content each time. Monthly fee MMO's have expansions too, but don't give you a break from the monthly fees. For example, City of Heros added City of Villians, but even if you buy the $50 add on, you don't even get a month off of the $15/month fee.

Also, if an expansion comes along with no new professions, I would hope it would be a little less than $50.

Haha, the nerfs in Guild Wars are nothing. If you want to see nerfs, play Star Wars Galaxies. I played that for about 2 years. SOE (Sony Online Entertainment, NOT Spirit of Elijah, hehe) gave that game 2 combat "revamps" in less than a year. There were so many bugs it wasn't funny, and everyone was just waiting for the "nerf bat" to hit their chosen profession next.

I switched to Guild Wars and was suprised how few bugs there were. Devs here are awesome! :D I'll gladly pay the $50 for expansions, simply as a thank-you for providing such a great game.

Well, in that case, some of the female characters are going to need more clothes...uh, different armor.

Right,

like they introduced gladiator armor when you got to the shiverpeaks in Prophecies. I'm betting warriors get tattos....

lol. ANYWAY I found out I won't be getting BF2 since I sold it for 10 bucks more than I got it for last night (I bought for 35). Anyway it looks like I'll get factions after all... OH THE CONTROVERSY!!!
