EverQuest II Extended is live!!!

The ToJ guild is only on the live server not the free one. Unfortunately, this new free service offers less for more in regards to paid services so there is little reason for a current subscriber to go this route. I don't think the ToJ guild will be moving over. However, It is a great offering for someone new to eq2 or someone who is broke.

The newbie zones are maxed out (in a good way, the mobs respawn in a ratio to population so you can still do quests fast) and there are people everywhere, its pretty neat. Has this feeling of craziness as ppl are tunning around asking newb questions left and right. I joined a random guild and we had 78 ppl on at once. Tons of people were making server first discoveries every other minute it seemed. Pretty fun stuff for free.

So tempting... I played EQ for about 4 years, so EQ2 has always been something that held some interest for me. Only the fact that it's owned by SOE has kept me away...

And now I'm an officer for FFXIV. Ah well...

Free to play, eh? Perhaps next time I get the itch to play a MMO, I'll download, install, and check out EQ2.

You should! The game is in a great state right now. Tons of good revamps are completed and lots of great starting zones. (just don't pick Neriak, other 3 are awesome) Servers are real stable and lag free. And shader 3.0 support is sick. (disable shadows if you get low FPS)

Funny cause they really limited the classes avail to free players, but they are all classes I never played. I cant decide which ones to roll with.

/looks at sig
/looks at EQ2 site
/sighs

Not promising anything, I'll give it a shot though.

I would've jumped into this...EQ2 is a good game...but I got my FFXIV beta key yesterday...and I am back to work...no time for 2 games... :p

Is there any way to download the client without using proprietary Sony software? The less interaction I can have with Sony software, the better.

Erm, it's like an 8mb patcher and the content streams to your HDD. Google didn't bring up any links between Sony rootkit/EQ2 so far (correct me if I'm wrong).

EDIT: Alternate Models look A LOT better. Just sayin'.

Wow a 5 year bitter grudge.

Good thing, I have not made any mistakes in the last 5 years. :)
Was just pointing out that Sony isn't exactly the most trustworthy company out there.

And it's nothing personal against Sony. I also uninstalled Pando within 60 seconds after I got LotRO (or was it DDO?) installed. I would have preferred to not install Pando at all, but it was required.

I strongly prefer to limit what programs I install, especially those that promise to deliver "free" content without any apparent catches. Call me paranoid if you will; I admit I'm something of a computer security...enthusiast.

the sony client Is genius IMO. I was playing in 5 mins from start. I even had voice overs on NPCs. Crazy good streaming client. You can d/l the full client @ 12gig if you want tho.

Ouch, 12GB? I may be waiting until I get a new hard drive after all. :(

EDIT: Nevertheless, for future reference: Is there a way I can download the full client without using a proprietary download manager?

There is for the live servers, I will have to check for the free servers. Honestly tho, I would try the streaming client. It is NOT a download manager, it is the game client itself. I am picky as well but this client is really decent. You only download what you need so you will save a ton of room on your HD.

What Ewoks says is true.

Even if the quote from Calvin is a bit off. <I thought it was idle, meaning men are good at doing nothing>
