Body of Christ

I never said it wasnt important. Without it I would have never gotten past that stage you are in, the whole I NEED PROOF STAGE. The bible provided me with the proofs I needed to beluive a God existed and from there on the Holy Spirit took over, because I dont go by my brain, I go by my Heart.
My brain doesnt tell me right form wrong, my heart does.

Well Byblos, I have been warned by a staff member that I am being overly harsh on you.

I apologize, wholeheartedly. I think you are making a mistake holding the views you have, but I will refrain from giving you any advice. I'll leave that to the Christians on this board, maybe you'll listen to them instead of the infidel.

I will not, however, refrain from replying to your posts that are relevant to threads, so you're not getting off that lucky

No Christians have personally rebuked me.
Sure they question me, but none doubt my faith, Heck ive gotten messages saying my Faith is too strong for my own good....

Yeah yeah I know what they mean...
But how could it be that as soon as a problem comes up or I have a question that, Joe will answer it the next time I see him? He answers by reading the word of God, and I dont even ask Joe the question I just show up and there he is talking about what has been eating at me.
Joe has given his life to God as a messenger. And thats all he is, a messenger.

Don't you think Kidan and Lion have a point? Or do you think they are misguided and incorrect?

You said Joe answers your questions by reading the word of God. Why don't YOU read the word of God and answer the questions for yourself? Sure, it's not as easy as sitting in church, it's harder, you actually have to work for the answer. In the end though, you will have actually learned something and will appreciate it more.

I think they know what they are talking about. But they do not know me well enough.

WHy dont I read it myself? Well I have on occasion, but like you said he makes it easier for me to undertsnad and he notices things I do not, because I dont know any language but English, and I dont konw anything about the history and customs of back then. Without his guidance I would have never understood that thing about women wearing hats in Corinth.

I appreciate God's word and have learned much from it.

Again, I think I have proven, quite nicely, that Joe is incorrect about Paul's message being just for Corinth. If you disagree, that's fine, but have REASONS for it, don't keep saying, "well that's not what Joe says".

You've never really commented on what I said about Corinth, was what I wrote wrong? If it is wrong, why is it wrong?

It is wrong because you said yourself that it speaks explicitly of the Physical head have you not?
Was it also not a custom for women to wear hats in that era?
Was it also not tru that a prostitute would wear no hat or shave her head to show she was a prostitute?
And is not not so that if your wife appears as a prostitute that she dishonors you?

I dont think you have disagreed with any of those things.

All of those things are absolutely true Byblos, but the text goes further than that. Please look at the post again. And let's try and keep those comments in that thread.

Well, if all of those things are true, where do you disagree with Joe and myself? It seems you are in agreement with the both of us.

Please go back to the thread on women, where this topic is originally discussed. I don't want to derail this thread anymore than it already has.

Ok on topic..

Like the rules of this forum state we should agree ont he majors and it doesnt really matter about the minors.... I unno. anyone who is part of a denomination here? I would like ot know why they think they should be seperate form the rest of us?

I used to be Catholic. My area used to be quite rife with religious tension, due to the high concentration of Catholics and Protestants. The Protestants would organise Orange Walks through mainly Catholic neighborhoods and streets. Catholics would celebrate similar types of walks through Protestant areas.

I don't why. I guess if a member of the clergy has their own theories, they will simply break away and preach their brand anyway. To me, it is just infighting. Nothing more.

Byblos, faith with out works is dead james tells us.

Our spiritual act of worship is to present ourselves to God, not hearts, not our feet, our entire body that includes the mind, Jesus is not just the lord of hearts, He is Lord of ALL. Great faith? great faith in WHAT? Muslims have great faith, so do mormons and jehovah wittnesses, that doesnt mean that they are going to heaven. Romans 3:9-20 make it absoluely clear that no one is righteous and we are not going to heave. it is by grace alone we are saved yes, but God did not tell the disciples to Go out into the church and sing some songs. He said go out into the world and make disciples (a disciple is someone who studies what the master has tuaght) not church goers and attenders who listen to ONE disciple/teacher. Paul and Peter both tell us commonly in their epistles to study Gods word?

DO you have the sword of the spirit? what good is your shield of faith if you do not have the sword? or the belt of truth, are your feet fitted with the gospel of peace? do you even know where this is referrenced from? most of it is a direct quote.

How can you know God if you only listen to one man teach, no, knowning God is a personal relationship you have by studing His word and growing with Him in a daily walk and conversation.

Thank you LionofJudah. I would never try to deconvert anyone here. Just ask that you, Byblos, like everyone else here, question, find out and study. If you truly are filled with the Holy Spirit, your studies can only make you stronger, right?

Jim as you saying i am driving him away from the faith? then oh what little faith one would have if such words can seperate them from God.

I thank you to Lion, I think it means more coming from a Christian.

Jim, can you tell me more about this "Orange Walk"? I've never heard of that before.

Were the tensions really that bad?

Byblos, you said, "seams pretty petty to me, I would think they would want to be united... mor poeple would come to christ that way"

Isn't that a bit hypocritical? You have been bashing Catholicism left and right, going so far as to claim they aren't Christian.
