In the Christian community Christians should have the
salt of friendship as what Mark 9:50 say's. It look's
like Christian's should not be against one another
and hate one another. What do you think?

Do you really think Christianity can unite? There has been too much bad blood for far too long.

Some "Christians" hold a deep hatred for other denominations. Protestants and Catholics have been fighting since the Reformation.

The biggest stumbling block to a unified Christianity lies in the differences in their beliefs. You will never see Christianity unified because they can't all decide on what God said in His one and only book.

That is a problem and im glad none of this crap will exist in heaven.

Would you mind showing me scriptural reference for you going to heaven when you die?

I don't remember seeing that in the Bible, thanks.

And if you can't show scripture for it, where did you get that idea from?

ONe loacation off the top of my head is when Jesus is on the cross, he promises Paradise to the their for beliving he is God. There are many places but this is the only place I know of its location.

The verse you are referring to is Luke 23:43 "Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Quote[/b] ]A passage of Scripture that leads many to conclude that there is a transition at death and that death is not the end of life but rather the beginning of a new existence is Luke 23:43. Jesus, speaking to the thief on the cross just before His death, said,

Luke 23:43, "...Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with Me in paradise."
However, the comma was placed in the wrong place by the translators. The correct reading of this verse should read:

Luke 23:43, "...Verily I say unto thee To day, thou shalt be with me in paradise."
If Christ went to Paradise that very day, He would surely have gone into the very presence of God. But Jesus did not go to his Father that day, for he said to Mary three days later, after he had been raised from the dead, "…I am not yet ascended to My Father…" (John 20:17). Christ was resurrected for 40 days (Acts 1:3) and ascended to the father only after his 40 days were fulfilled (Acts 1:9-11). Therefore, they were not together anywhere that day, except on the cross.

Christ did not contradict Himself. Notice the punctuation of Luke 23:43. The whole meaning of this verse hinges on the placement of the comma. With this in mind, remember that the punctuation in the Bible is a relatively new addition. The early manuscripts of the scripture did not use the comma. There was no punctuation in the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts. The comma was introduced by Manutius, a learned printer, who lived in Venice in the fifteenth century. The translators of the bible, in using their best judgment, placed the punctuation marks we now have in our Bibles. Words are inspired by God, punctuation is not.

The change of a comma can make a great difference in the meaning of a sentence. If you write, "The teacher says my boy is no good," you mean one thing. You mean something very different, however, if you add two commas. "The teacher, says my boy, is no good." The words are the same, but the meaning is not at all the same.

Christ did not promise that the thief would be with Him in Paradise that day. Jesus Himself did not go to Paradise that day but slept in the tomb. But on the day of the crucifixion, the day of apparent defeat and darkness, the promise was given. "Today" while dying upon the cross as a malefactor, Christ assures the poor sinner, "Thou shalt be with Me in Paradise." Instead of losing any meaning, the word today takes on a real significance. The comma belongs after the word "Today."

A similar sentence construction may be found in the writings of the prophet Zechariah. "Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee" (Zechariah 9:12). The context shows that the rendering "double" was not to take place on that very "today" but was a future event. It is evident that "today" qualifies "declare." Even so, if the "today" of Luke 23:43, which is a parallel to the language of Zechariah, is allowed to modify "say," there is no contradiction between the message to the thief and the words of Jesus to Mary.

When Jesus made this statement to the thief, it was in a reply to what the thief said to Jesus:

Luke 23:42-43, "And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee To day, thou shalt be with me in paradise. "
Notice, the thief said "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom." He did not say "when thou goest." He didn't go anywhere except the grave to go to sleep. It is quite evident that the thief understood that Christ had taught that He would come again.

Gods presense is heaven. Jesus also says he is going to prepare a place for us in his father's house. That is the heaven I look forward to.

You were under the assumption that when you die you go to heaven.

Why you believed that I don't know, you kinda sorta remembered hearing about a verse that dealt with it.

So I looked up the verse for you and showed you that your view was inaccurate.

Would you mind responding to that?

I've said it before and I will say it again, you are doing yourself a great disservice to be so staunch in your beliefs, when you are not even sure what your beliefs are. You haven't read the entire Bible and you rely heavily on Pastor Joe, moreso than your own cognitive abilities. I don't care about your beliefs, but you better be sure WHY you believe what you believe. Your faith is not on a solid foundation. Again, I'm not trying to talk you out of being a Christian, but please, read the ENTIRE Bible before coming to any conclusions.

The Lord is my father and my teahcer, he teaches me through Joe. It is not my duty to study and legalize his word, I am to come to him humble as a child. I have no right or desire to question the lord, I have no desire to do anything but serve him and perform his will.

It's not your duty to study huh?

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"  1st Timothy 2:15

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”  1 Thessalonians 5:21

I could plead with you to study the Bible for personal edification; I could try the art of persuasion to stimulate your quest for happiness. I could say that the study of the Bible would probably be the most fulfilling and rewarding educational experience of your life. I could cite numerous reasons why you would benefit from a serious study of Scripture. But ultimately the main reason why we should study the Bible is because it is our duty. If the Bible were the most boring book in the world, dull, uninteresting and seemingly irrelevant, it would still be our duty to study it. If its literary style were awkward and confusing, the duty would remain. We live as human beings under an obligation by divine mandate to study diligently God’s Word. He is our Sovereign, it is his Word and he commands that we study it. A duty is not an option. If you have not yet begun to respond to that duty, then you need to ask God to forgive you and to resolve to do your duty from this day forth.

This might help as well

Quote[/b] ]Next make sure that you DON'T do the following ten things because they can cause you to misinterpret Scripture,

1. Make the Bible say what you want it to say.
2. Spiritualize the text.
3. Decide on a doctrine without looking at all relevant texts.
4. Isolate texts from their contexts.
5. Apply promises made to Israel to other nations.
6. Replace Israel with the Church.
7. Pour current thinking into the Bible.
8. Use the supernatural experience of Bible men as normative for today.
9. Dismiss a text as cultural because you are uncomfortable with it.
10. Over personalize the Bible.

If you apply these basic principles to your Bible study it will help greatly with giving you a consistent interpretation of the Bible. With this said, these basic principles are only the beginning and if you really want to be able to stand firm upon God's Word, and not someone's opinion, then you need to study more about the science of Hermeneutics.

you are placing way to much faith in this Joe you speak of. If you do not study/learn on your own, then you will start believing anything/eveything that Joe tells you. Then, you've stopped worshipping Christ and have started worshipping Joe. My suggestion is to get as far away from Joe as you possibly can.

As well, Dark Vitrue is showing you a couple verses where we are commanded to study the Bible.

Worshipping Joe... So it is wrong to have a teacher? Ya know If I read the book of ramans wont i be taking Paul's word on it, that is not worsshiping Paul. I belive that Joe is an extention of Gods will and God speaks through him. I do check up on him once in a while and ive not found anything to discredit his teachings.

We do study the bible as a group, athst why its called bible study.

I pray to God Byblos you are never in any congregation i am in, nor anyone with your mind set. i expect my church that i am leading to question what i say and not take what i tell them as the truth, rather they take it with a grain of salt and do their own study. Anyone can go to church on sunday and wensday for "bible" study. it doesnt mean they know anything. often you have been asked to cite the verse or book where you state your beliefs from and you can not. then how can you follow the instructions of Peter in 1 Peter i believe where he tells us to be ready to give an account for your faith.

heres a startling statistics

49% of all preachers/ professional church workers do not have a Biblical world view

Of the 51% that do
1 out of every 6 congregational members does. that means 5 dont =/ you ask why we should question everything, here you go.

Stats from
Bill Redman Former US Congress man from New Mexico 3rd congressional District (formerly a preacher too gradutated from Lincoln Christian and Sem with a masters).

THANK YOU!

Sheesh, even the heathen amongst you knows you should study your Bible

By the way, I read the Book of Raman, it was filled with many tasty recipes

Byblos, people are showing concern for you, I hope you pay attention to them. Verses have been shown to you that show you the error of your ways. You rely too heavily on a MAN. If you beleive in the Bible, then you believe it was ordained by God. Man is fallible. You follow Joe like he has the answer to everything. I remember a few people in Waco that did the same thing. The man they followed was David Koresh.

You NEED to read the Bible. You need to LOOK at the text, at the words. Don't rely on audio tapes for everything. Remember our discussion of head coverings? You kept saying FACE instead of head and you wouldn't answer me about which Bible translation you were using. When you finally did answer, you said the KJV. That isn't possible, because there is no translation of FACE, it is head. So I still don't know where you're getting your info from. But I bet it's audio from Joe's site. Get yourself a Bible and READ it.

Iam supposed to be ready to give an account to God.

Well hey if this all that matters to you, arguing and being right over stuff that will not even exist after this life then go ahead and continue to argue and know it all. But hey all of this "knowledge" will be nothing on the other side.
