Android Task Manager

I recently bought a Droid Razr Maxx HD phone. While I love the phone (it's a beast with battery life), I keep running out of memory. I'm using NQ Mobile Guard as my anti-virus and app manager. While it has a good system optimization widget, I'm unable to manage apps effectively. I want to be able to dictate that apps stop running after I stop using them and that they won't automatically start up on their own. As of now, when I kill the apps using the widget, after about 5 minutes, they start back up again. I've tried numerous apps already but they do not have the function I'm looking for. Does anyone have suggestions?

Posting to subscribe. Would use such a tool mahself, but I haven't put in the effort to find one. heh

I took screenshots. This is right after a reboot:

This is my system memory % after killing all the apps:

Then after a couple minutes plus running a couple more apps, here's the system memory %:

In total, I have about 40 apps on the phone. I'm not big on apps as I try to keep it limited.

nods every app has a piece that runs in the background. your ram usage of 80% isn't excessive and keep in mind the appkiller also uses ram and spu cycles to do it's job...also taks killers tend to cause memory fragmentation which hurts mobile devices and can drastically slow their performance. some of those apps are going to be crapware by your carrier and there's nothing you can do to keep them from respawning.

first of al get rid of the anti-virus. it's not going to stop anything and you'll get most of your phone's performance back. The best thing is don't instlal apps that aren't from well vetted companies. many free apps have spyware in them and a/v won't stop that. Get rid of the a/v. I would then nuke the task killer. it is simply costing you ram and cpu cycles. after that remove any apps you don't use at least once a week.

another reason to dump a/v...the more processes you are running the harder it has to work to scan them all...system slows down..you then have to kill programs to regain performance sucked in by a/v..it's a viscous cycle for something that's next to worthless.

+1 I've found Task Managers and A/V only have a tendency to slow things down and not actually help.
