My Testimony

I would like to just tell you a little bit about how the Lord reached me through some life experiences, and about some of the people in my life. I will particularly mention my mother, my brother and my pastor.

My mother had undergone two abusive marriages,
insofar as each of her husbands were unconvicted murderers in some form.
During my mother's first marriage, she experenced two still-births,
afterwhich my brother and I were born with separate fathers.
During her second marriage, when I was six,
my dad filed for divorce to pursue a homosexual lifestyle.
My mom worked very hard to raise me on $6.00 per hour,
while paying for a mortgage on a three bedroom house.
Because she knew that I liked to read comic books,
she bought me a thick picture bible which I read all the way through.

One evening, when I returned from weekend visitations with my dad,
my mom recounted a supernatural experience that she had that weekend.
She referenced that she had been laying very sick in bed,
with BooBoo our collie/****er spaniel sleeping at her feet.
Suddenly a fully audible voice resounded from the ceiling speaking in a quick foreign tongue.
BooBoo's ears perked up and her nose went directly to the ceiling.
Then the voice spoke in clear english with a grieved tone, saying: "I am the Lord, Love ME."
I found it curious that she would say such a thing, and filed the thought away.
Years later, I realized since she had no prior knowledge concerning the existence of divine tongues,
that the event may not have been mind-generated.

There was also a time when I arrived home from school,
and I found my brother laying unconscious on the frontroom couch.
I peeked into his bedroom where all of his furniture was shattered,
afterwhich I noticed an empty bottle of sleeping pills fallen from his hand.
I called my mother at work and then called the police,
and I said "Billy's room broke."
The paramedics arrived and his stomach was pumped, thereby saving his life.
Later, when playing though my mother's clothing drawers, I found her divorce court papers.
I read them avidly, and found that my brother had been sexually abused by my father.
Then I understood why my brother would do drugs and get so violent.

Eventually, my brother was old enough to go to college,
where he met a Christian man and attended bible groups.
He quit his drugs and started leading bible studies at his church and at home.
Years later, he would invite me to be his best man at his wedding.

Meanwhile, my high school friends started getting involved in drugs and the occult.
I never joined in with their drugs, because I had seen what drugs formerly did to my brother.
Nonetheless, I started having mystical experiences that I had questions about,
so I sat down one night and acknowledged to God that there was evil in the world.
I wanted to see what the bible said about mystical experiences,
but I wanted quick answers and the bible was very long.
I then speculated that the last book of the bible might give a summary of the earlier books.
When avidly reading the book of Revelation through in a single sitting,
I immediately recognized that it was a supernatural book.
I had absolutely no idea what most of it meant, but I was filled with stark terror.

One of the verses said:
Revelation 21
8 "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
(NAS95)

I further re-skimmed the book and found other verses:
Revelation 3
19 'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
20 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
(NAS95)

Acknowledging that the book was supernaturally inspired and spoke of Jesus,
I prayed to God to commit myself to Jesus.
Amidst continuous prayers and readings, I fell asleep and had a dream.
In the dream, I saw the throne of God in heaven,
with God seated upon it in the form of a diamond where his heart would be.
Then I heard a voice in the dream saying: "I am sending you on a quest."
I interpreted this to mean that I was to find the heart of God,
which was as the most beautiful and indestructible precious rock.

I recounted my encounters with my occult friends,
and told them that God wanted them to serve Jesus.

One year later, when I was fifteen,
my brother's Christian friend invited me and my mom to his church.
There I met a pastor named Ted Stevenson,
whose words would pierce into my soul when he would proclaim the scriptures.
He had left his multi-million dollar business in Alaska, to start a poor church of 150 people,
so I gathered that he was sincere.
When he entered a room, spiritual energy would flow from his limbs filling the room like a thick energy cloud,
much like when the outdoor air becomes charged with energy moments prior to a heavy storm.
He began driving to my house once a month for three years, to take me out to lunch,
insofar as I was too young to drive.
Each time, he would ask me about myself and my family members,
and eventually counseled me to cease contact with my dad, which I did for fourteen years.
Under his tutelage, I began searching the scriptures to discover the heart of God.

Wow.

It's an amazing story. I do have a couple of questions though.

Was there a definite moment when you made the decision to trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior?

How did your mom respond to her vision?

How did your friends respond to your assertion that they should follow Jesus?

Again, that's an amazing testimony. Thanks for sharing that with us.
