The most appropriate verse I could think of for April Fool's Day. It is easy for us to point fingers at all the 'heathens' out there - calling them fools, but the sad truth is - too many Christians are living the same way. Paul said,
And if there is no resurrection, “Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!” Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. 1 Corinthians 15:32-34 (NLT)
He was writing to Christians - people who knew God yet who were simply living for the day - acting as if how they lived didn't matter - like God didn't see or care. Anyone who lives like that would be the biggest April Fool of all. What a shame, indeed.
