And here I was hoping it was some prevention for gold spammers. 
I think if you send a message out to a public channel with the words "powerlevel" or other common gold spam terms in it you should be turned into a newt...or maybe a porgus (with no chat privileges).

LOL that would rock.
I did notice that you can now alt-click an item to search for it in the broker (in order to know what to charge for it) That is very handy!
