"Bring Our Servers Back" or BOSs Bee (Full thread)

CGA & ToJ President
WHO: Tribe of Judah members with expendable income.

WHERE: Virtual environments where Christians and non-Christians can enjoy popular first-person shooter games in a family-friendly environment.

WHY: Because.

WHAT: Approximately $2000 USD for the purchase of a quality dedicated server, approximately $50 USD a month for data center hosting and bandwidth.

HOW: Financial commitment from Tribe of Judah members.

In July 2005, we, Tribe of Judah staff, took our servers offline after discovering that our former dedicated hosting service, ServerBeach, hosted pornographic content. Since then, we've been raising money for a new dedicated server.

Our goal is $2000 USD for the physical rackmount server itself, then a steady commitment of $50 USD a month from Tribe of Judah members to keep the server online.

So will God bless you with a "hundred-fold" return if you send us five bucks? Beats me. That's up to God. But I do know that every dollar members donate brings us closer to having our own servers again.

Control over our very own game servers opens up a number of new ministry opportunities. A dedicated box of our own server also provides a virtual "meeting place" for our first-person chapter members to gather, form friendships, and encourage one another. And when we open our virtual doors to the world, we get to minister to more people.

Again, I won't say that your donation is going to buy God's favor. I won't say that God is calling every single member of Tribe of Judah to donate. I don't know what God is saying to you. What I do know is that a dedicated server of our own would create new mission fields in which we could serve as "living epistles" of the changes that God has made in our lives.

So if funds are really tight, don't donate--and don't you dare feel guilty about it. I recently went through a time where money was scarce and all I had to give to the community was time. Believe me when I say that I know where you're coming from.

But if you have a few extra bucks lying around and don't mind missing lunch at McDonald's once or twice a month, send it in. Tribe of Judah's current roster shows over 340 members. $2000 total and $50 a month isn't a crazy objective, trust me.

EITHER WOW or SOE

But those games are monthly subscriptions as well.

There is over 500 members in the forums alone, if half of them pay up $5 each, its still quite good.

Or if someone won the lottery, I'm sure this would be done. ;)

Guild Wars has no monthly subscription.

and ToJ does not have Transfats in it either :)

I would love to see what ToJ really could do in raising money.

Guild Wars has no monthly subscription.

Sorry then, I assumed MMORPG as monthly subscriptions such as WoW.

Though, I'm not a fan of it since I've never played Everquest, ever....errr...Guild Wars...

It does get annoying when donations from here is slightly high to the US, but for what its worth. Especially with, Genesis1315, post.

why isnt there an option to donate 30 cents :P

I should point out that a large portion of the community is minors that dont like asking their parents to pay for things. I wouldnt mind laying down a donation once we get closer to the deadline and things are more set in stone.

I've been a contributor to ToJ for some time now. The stone may get more firm quicker and bigger if more contribute now.
I've not given up on a server yet even with a lot of stumbling blocks because I know it's important to CREATE A CHRISTIAN ENVIRONMENT which can be monitored by Christian gamers so that young lads and ladies can actually enjoy a game without explicitives being blasted out in sequence and trouble makers can be banned indefinitely.

thats a fine promise you cant guarantee

You obviously never played on the old game server. It has been done, and it can be done again. And I'm getting very tired of your negative attitude, if you don't want to help, and 'donating' 30 cents doesn't count, then stop posting here.

I think a lot of people have missed the ToJ server, Phantom.

When the server is up, then, vibrokatana, can have a chance to see how it works in the servers......unless, vibrokatana, doesn't own Counter-Strike, heh.

Well, then, believe in Hes post, as would everyone would agree to him.

I've admined for our servers for a very long time (ever since we had our own servers) and I can say that there is a lot of people out there that like playing in a clean server. Back when Elite funded the server himself, I tried my best to support him in it. That how Elite, Goose, and I became good friends in cs, though Goose never went easy on us :)

In any deal, to support having a clean server you can just rely on computer programs to deal with trouble makers, there needs to be well controlled admins to handle problems level headed. So a good Christian server is possible and achievable, if you believe in it.

oh yeah, i think alot of us are more experianced at admining than before. this could be a really good oppurtunity
