Hijacked :(

Whon

Tribe of Judah Left 4 Dead Chapter Leader
I think my steamid was hijacked this morning. I had two conformation emails of a password change at 9AM and I wasn't online then, plus now I can't login or retrieve my id info, so I'm sure they changed my email info also. Put a steam ticket in with my last purchase info, so hopefully they will do something soon, but at the moment I don't have UT now and really only have TF2 and CS:source (since I have another account with those games).

Yeah, I've already made a ticket I'm just waiting a reply. Just letting everyone know I'm not going to be online, unless I'm playing TF2 or CS:S with the user name Atomsk.

no reply yet from steam, probably too busy playing their own games to do their job. Anyway, please do not talk or click anything I may send to you from my steam account until you hear differently here. The name on the account now it "Jaxed" so I know someone is on it and I don't want them moving on to anyone else.

Side not if possible and not already done take my account out of an community and admin rights so they don't mess everything we have up

:( How did it happen anyway viruses?, key logger? brute force hacks? I want to know so I can avoid it EEEek!

I'm not really sure myself, I woke up this morning and my friends page was up but a popup was up saying communication were lost and I needed to re-login so I tried and poof no go, so I tried to reset the password and never received the email to continue the reset process so I started a ticket with steam. Then I logged into another account of mine and searched for my main account and the name is changed to something wierd and all the friends and communities are gone. Really hopeing to hear back from steam soon though, it's really making me mad since there are 78 games on that account, compaired to the 2 on my other one.

Did you check the box, Remember my password?

I heard from a college classmate, he can hack into people's accounts that check it/enable it.

So, most that use with passwords, I have to type them.

If that it true, its possible someone looked into the password registry from Steam, hack it and ruined the account.

Try checking other things in your routine. Hopefully someone doesn't have a grudge towards you. Otherwise, it could of been random.

But that does suck, to have only 2 games. If that really is it, I have to back-up all my games.

It should be good. Since you paid your games on-line, its proof their your games.

yeah, I'm pretty sure it was just a random event. I did have the remember checked, and not my computer itself wasn't hacked. It was probably some of my fault as the password was really old, think I started using it back in 2000 and I just needed to update it to my more secure one. Lesson learned and I'm sure steam will get it back to me as soon that they see my proof of ownership.

For Passwords, its interesting 1 of my old friends, his password is numbers and it was a long number........

I can't even remember it!

Love it, over 48 hrs since I lost my account and still no reply from steam. I'm really starting to lose faith in steam. They could at least say they received it or are investigating... something.

Don't feel too bad. I put in a ticket about my brightness issue in Left 4 Dead on March 17 and still haven't received a reply.

I would think they would get a move on when it comes to a hijacked account, though.

Whon, the reality is that your ticket was submitted on the weekend to a company that is located on the West Coast. This means, at the earliest, they might come across your submission today in the evening along with anybody else who submitted during the weekend.

In my experience, unless it is a huge corporation, company support works during normal business hours on the weekdays. So I would not have expected anything until tonight if I were in your shoes.

Of course, put the pressure on them as time goes by this week. You are clearly a very valuable customer to Valve just by your game collection, and you should remind them of this fact so they will resolve your problem quickly.

And about 30 minutes after I posted that, I found an e-mail from Valve in my inbox with an update on the ticket. It wasn't very helpful (just a recommendation to upgrade my drivers, which are already the latest version--9.3 using Mobility Modder), but it's at least a reply. (I've already sent another reply explaining that I have the latest drivers.)

LoL, Tek I had the same thing, but it was a couple hours after I posted. They sent me a comment "you account may have been hijacked" no may have about I it was straight up. Anyway, I'm getting things back up and going, so see me on your friends list soon.

Side note: seeing as the perp deleted all my friends and groups I'm going to need invites for ToJ, ToJ:L4D (good thing I gave tek7 admin on that one), and ToJ:UT communities.

I know my brother had his account either hacked or he just lost his password for about a year when he wasn't playing CSS, but before he moved up here, it took about a week for them to reset his account (I made the ticket). Having the receipts (in your e-mail from when you do buy stuff) will get it back quicker methinks.
