*ERRRRRR -- ERRRRRR -- ERRRRRR* BABY ALERT!

The McGuire household and friends are on alert pending the birth of two twin girls. If you see me drop off the face of the internet for a couple days, don't be surprised -- these are numbers seven and eight for us, so give us time to settle back in. ^^

*ERRRRRR -- ERRRRRR -- ERRRRRR* This concludes the BABY ALERT. We now bring you to our regularly scheduled programming.

guys are lucky, not having brothers or sisters sucks. sucks even only having one for me

Update: we just got word that Mom will be delivering the twin girls via C-section on or before Friday. Mom isn't happy -- she'd pick a natural birth over the knife any day. Prayers welcome.

Thanks!

Another update: looks like having a C-section isn't as much of a pressing issue, now that we've confirmed that the weight difference isn't as great as we originally thought. She's still going to have a Caesarian (since both babies are breech, eg. butt down), but it won't likely be until Friday.

Are you Ready?

Make sure you have everything important ready before the big date. You've got to be prepared...

1. Be sure to bring your PSP/Game Boy/Laptop for the waiting room. We all know boredom can be fatal if not treated immediately!

2. Be sure to bring fresh batteries for the PSP/Game Boy/Laptop. Tip: If you do forget batteries you may be able to jury-rig something from any camera/camcorder you may have brought. I mean it's not like you haven't seen the miracle of life before.

3. As you are a man of many hats one must ask do you have a hat ready for the occasion?

4. Have you got names picked out for the twins yet? There is no way they will be able to play online without them! I recommend Gerbil-ella and Gerbil-lina. No need to thank me for those names. They are my gift to you! Tip: I see you will have 8 kids so If you have trouble remembering their names you should give them hotkeys.

5. Sure, you may have this birth all planned out, but, you've got to be planning ahead. Two words "baker's dozen".

In case there is any doubt this was yet another sarcastic  (and weird :p) message from the Gerbil, but, my prayers are with you.

1) I'm actually going to be at home with my other five siblings, while my parents will be at the birthing center. ^^

2) See #1. :p

3) Yup, I'm ready. We have my Grandma over here to help out with managing the other children while mom is away.

4) I believe we have Rachael and Megan nailed down for names, but I'm not entirely sure. I will pass along your suggestions.

5) See point #1 again. :p

Update: it looks like the procedure is going down tomorrow.

She's going in at 5:30 AM tomorrow -- the procedure starts at 7:30 AM. Keep her in your prayers. I'll post another update as soon as I have confirmation.

Oh I thought it was you that was having the children the way everyone was talking. Still I hope everything comes out alright... err :p

The twins have been born! The girls are doing fine, and mom is doing fine as well. Rachael was 6-10 and Megan was 4-7.

*praises God*

EDIT: I got it flipped around: Rachael was 4-7; Megan was 6-10.

Congrats! Bet they're totally adorable!

How did the sibling-watching go?

I don't know EXACTLY where he falls in the birth order, but it's near the top, I believe. Any guy with that many siblings surrounding him needs prayers for his sanity... :D

I'm pretty sure they are. =D I haven't seen them yet -- hopefully I'll be able to make a run later to check 'em out. ^^

It's going fine, actually. Mom will be in the hospital for at least three days or so, so we've still got a bit of child-watching ahead of us.

Yup, I am the firstborn. =)

My Mother has always said they (newborn babies) are supposed to smell good. My experience with children is 0 so I cannot say, but, does anyone else think so? (and please I'm not talking about if they haven't been changed so we can drop those comments). Perhaps it is to encourage bonding between a Mother and child, or maybe it is so the Mother will be compelled to lick and digest the lost nutrients after birth (like many animal mothers), or maybe It's like that new car smell or something :p

It's to late now of course, but, I was wondering if they saved the cord blood. They have been getting good results in healing people by giving them their own cord blood (which is high in adult stem cells). Handy thing to keep, but, I don't know what is involved in storing it. Note this is adult stem cells not embryonic stem cells which cause the destruction of a baby in their harvesting.
